am so sad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today I went to an appointment at my doctors office and everything has been cancelled. This is because of united health care. They said I have exclusion to my policy, but I get different answers when I call them.I will appeal but I did have a date october 26,2004 not no longer. Why cant I HAVE IT EASY JUST ONCE AND THINGS GO MY WAY. WHAT REALLY MAKES ME MAD IS THERE IS PEOPLE AT MY WORK THAT GOT APPROVED FOR THE SURGERY. SO PLEASE PRAY THAT MAYBE SOME DAY I WILL GET APPROVED HAS TO BE BEFORE JAN 2005 NO COVERAGE AFTER THIS YEAR.

Hi Sherry, I am so sorry to hear that. I ran into a snag back in Feb. My 1st surgeon mailed in my paperwork for approval & 2mos later I still heard nothing. I got both the run around from the Dr's office & insurance company. Then to my worst fears my company changed our insurance plans, we still had BC/BS but now under different plans & wouldnt you know, my Dr didnt take that plan (turns out, my 1st Dr's office dropped the ball). So, I dropped both the Dr & insurance & picked up my husband's insurance. Now, 6mos later..I'm having surgery on Monday. Keep at it, bug everyone until you get an answer! It will all work out in the end!

Hi Sherry, Sorry to hear about the insurance! I have the same insurance as you do (UHC) and the denied me before I even talked to a sugeon. My policy has a written exclusion against all WLS. I know how irritating these insurance companies can be. I wish I could offer advise on how to get them to approve you, but I don't. I am still having the surgery I want anyhow. I am financing it myself. I can't really afford it, but I can't stand being like I am anymore! I will be making payments for several years to pay for it myself. HELLO ROBIN GOOD LUCK ON YOUR SURGERY.WELL AM NOT DONE WITH UHC JUST YET BECAUSE I DONT HAVE A BENEFIT BOOK BUT I HOPE ONE DAY I WILL GET ONE SO ILL KNOW IF I HAVE A CHANCE.I ALSO HAVE CONSIDERED PAYING FOR IT MY DOCTOR AM USING MAKES WERE IT NOT SO EXPENSIVE BUT IT IS STILL HIGH.HOW ARE YOU PAYING FOR YOURS?

I am sorry to hear about your insurance. Please keep in mind that everything happens for a reason!!! Pick yourself up and keep going. Call the insurance company back and find out what is going on... make sure to always document, dates, times and names... Talk to the people at your work and see what they had to do... Good Luck! Jen
