Who is have OPEN WLS

I'm having open wls on October 19... is anyone else having open WLS?

I am....I did qualify for a lap (BMI 42), but it is technically more difficult, and I feel safer with better visualization...my doc says it is the most "reliable" of all surgeries (open DS), I can take more pain for that!

I am having Open DS in Brazil with Dr. Marchesini on 10/26/04. For me Open makes more sense. I want the Doc to be able to see clearly. Robin G

I am having Open WLS on 10/21/04. My doctor said its the safest and likes to be able to see things clearly. Good luck to you!

Having open RNY also on the 12th. The surgeon I chose does the open and my BMI is a bit over cut-off for the lap. Congratulations everybody on their quickly approaching surgeries!

Hi, My surgery is tommorrow-Monday morning, 7:30 am. (EST) Its an open WLS. I'm having the fobi pouch WLS. No sleep tonight. I've got to be at the hospital at 5:30 am. I wish you a simple, no problem surgery. I wish I had a lap top so I could talk to people while I'm there. Betty your sister in the journey Monday.

Hi Betty we will be going under an hour apart (CST). I have to be at the hospital at 5:30 am and also wil have surgery at 7:30 am too! Prayers and best wishes for you in your sucessful uneventful journey and recovery! Joy!

I'm having open wls on the 20th, I agree with the above comment regarding better visualization with an open procedure. Best wishes on your upcoming surgery and for a speedy recovery. TTFN...Sharon B.
