Nervous can some one help
Hi Debbie,
Jumpy isn't the word for it. My date is the 8th and I think I could fly away with all the butterflys I have in my tummy.
I just posted a message of my own a bit earlier and got some great responces and encouragement. We are not alone in this, I have looked at hundreds of before and after pictures and keep reminding myself thats going to be me in a few months. Slim and healthy and I chose to do this, as one of my repliers said.
Hang in there and just think how freeing this sergery is going to be.

Hi Debbie!
My surgery is on Monday too. I am fortunate to not feel nervous-scared yet. I am just nervous-excited, like before a big trip.
Can you pinpoint some of the reasons you feel nervous? That might make it easier to deal with those feelings more specifically.
In general I would say, go back to remembering why you want this surgery. You're miles ahead of the game just by being here - any questions or problems you have, there have to be at least 20 people who have been there. It won't be easy, we know that... but we will make it through this and we will suceed. Just think of how many have gone before us, and they have made it. Remember too, that as time goes by you'll be able to eat more like a "normal" person, and the scary liquid/pureed diet won't be forever.
Do you have supportive people around you? Lean on them! Call somebody who will reassure you and remind you why you made this decision. Call your doctor or at least the nurse and voice your concerns. If you have any questions they should be there to answer them, that is what they're there for.
Hang tight, and try to find some really fun things to do this weekend.
Thank you so much for that.
I think I am nervous because I am doing something for me and Im not used to that. I am used to being a caregiver not a caretaker. Also my son and daughter-in-law are not really behind me on this. My daughter is but I would really like for them to be with me also.
My exciting weekend will be tying up loss ends at work and finish painting my bathroom,
I know this is the best thing for me and my health. I want to be able to play with my grandbabies.
Hi Debbie,
I am one day behind you. I am going in next tuesday. We are also neighbors, sort of. I am 2.5 hours northeast of you just south of Allentown. My husband goes to Hagerstown all the time to the Mac plant. He is a Bendix engineer. I have been there once myself. We tagged along once to go swimming in the hotel pool (before my daughter entered kindergarten).
I wish you all the best. Don't worry too much. Everyone is a little different but even if you feel like a truck hit you at first, you will feel better every day. I am preop too but I have had other surgeries. Just take it slow and remember to get up and moving. My surgeon says it isn't how far but how often. Make sure you are up and moving every few hours. And the diet will get better too. All the liquid stuff isn't forever. I have heard that the eating is the biggest challenge at first but as we get further out it gets easier and we can tolerate things better. I know we will both/all do splendidly. Big group hug to all the 10-04's.
Jill
