Lungs Help

Well I'm on my way for Surgery. Just a couple more things to do to get my surgery. I have to see a lung doctor to get my lungs in good shape. Has anyone done this and tell me what it is about. I have a Fasting to do for Fri and I don't thing I have much more to do. The lung thing will tell my doctor more once I'm ready. Has anyone had this lung thing checked and done. Help need advise.

Hi Christine, I've never heard of a lung test before the surgery. Are you a smoker? My doc said that I had to quit smoking 1 mth before my surgery date, but I quit that same day 8/3/04.

I had to see a lung doctor too. They wanted to see my lung capacity. Besides the usual breathing and listening to the lungs they had a machine where I had to hold my breath and then blow as hard as I could. At the same time I was hooked up to another machine that was measuring my heart rate and other things. It printed out several graffs. It was easy other than holding my breath and blowing as long as they wanted. I didn't feel like I did well but after reviewing the stuff the lung doctor says my lungs are good enough to run a marathon. Now if my body could.
