Hi All! I've never started this before, but have been thinking about my "question" and thought I'd get some input from others who are probably thinking about it too!! This question is based upon the fact that I know several people who have had WLS in the past who have NOT kept their weight off. Many are back well into the "obese" category because they do not use their tool. So, here's the question: What are you personally going to do to make sure you maintain your weightloss throughout your lifetime (name several things if you'd like!)? Hope all of you are having a good day! Kathy 294/161/155

I have only recently found this message board and have enjoyed reading through some of the earlier posts. I had my surg on Oct. 28th, 2003. I, as of this morning, have lost 130 pounds. Between my 8th and 9th month I only lost 2 pounds, it was my lowest weight loss ever and the 2 pounds were at the beginning of the 8th month. I was very depressed because I had hoped to lose 150 before I stopped and would love to lose it before my 1 year anniversary. I was afraid I was finished, so decided to join a gym, make sure I was drinking more water and try my best to get in more protein (I don't do the protein drinks well). By the end of my 9th month, I had lost 7 more pounds, and it was earlier in that month that I did that (I actually lost 12 and gained back 5), I continued to exercise (treadmill, elliptical and weights at least 6 days per week. Since the 28th of August, the beginning of my 10 month, I have lost another 8 pounds. It has sure made me want to stay in the exercise mode.

I had an open roux n y with Dr Jordan Garrison on October 17,2003- I've lost 116lbs -which I know is very good- gut my goal was 150 in the first year. I'm greatful for the weight I've lost but a little depressed i didn't reach my own goal. I need to add more exercise and discipline to my daily routine & I'll get there eventually. Donna

I always forget to check in and post for the roll call each month! We are a little distracted here, in FL, getting ready for Hurricane Frances to hit. We just went through Charley a couple of weeks ago. I am looking to relocate! Anyway, I am happy to say that I am down 102 lbs since my surgery on October 27th, 2003. From 251 the day of surgery to 149 today. I wear 9/10 or 11/12 in my pants, and medium shirts. I have been into vigorous exercise for the past two or three months, working on swimming, running, weights, and biking, and am actually beginning to train for a mini triathlon next year! I never thought I would get this far! I am only 5 ft. tall so I could lose some more but I carry my weight very well so I am happy with where I am. As far as eating goes, I don't have alot of restrictions in my diet. I know I feel better when I eat alot of vegetables and I am conscious of my protein intake. I take supplements and vitamins, iron, calcium, B complex and a multivitamin. Recently I have begun to take biotin and E since my hair is thinner than it used to be. I can eat sugar and sometimes eat more than I should, but I don't feel very good when I do so I don't do it much. I eat rice and bread and other carbs and I don't see them as evil. I think we need balance in our diets, just moderation in everything. Exercise is the key for me!

Had lap RNY on the 24th of Oct. I have lost weight pretty steady except for a few plateaus. Right now I am fine where I am. I can wear a size 12 bottom and 10 top. I eat just about anything I want, not in excess. If I get smaller, fine, if not, fine. I feel good and know I have added many more years onto my life. Karen 256/155
