Okay... for breakfast I have 2 scrambled eggs with cheese. For a morning snack, I will eat a slice of cheese or a Q-Smart Bar (10 g protein). For lunch, I make up a salad here at the hospital cafeteria of a small amount of dark green lettuce, lots of cheese, ham, turkey, green olives, hot peppers, chick peas and sunflower seeds. I never eat it all and will either have the rest for an afternoon snack or save it for supper. If I don't eat the leftover salad for an afternoon snack, I will eat either a Q-smart bar, cashews or cheese. For supper, I have a salad or chicken strips or sometimes both. Depending on what I cook for my family, I will sometimes eat a little of that too. For a before bed snack, I have either a SF fudgesicle, more cheese and a few triscuits, SugarFree Banana Bread or cashews. I'm not sure what I'm doing that is bad except maybe not walking enough or getting enough water in but I am behind everyone in weight loss. I also drink hot-tea all day long with splenda. Sometimes I get a craving for some chips and I will eat a couple to ease that craving but not often. Maybe I'm eating too much of what I AM eating?? Oh well, I feel much better but like I said earlier, I get a little down when I read how much everyon eelse has lost sometimes. I sound so ungrateful don't I? I don't mean to, sorry... Pam

Well, I'm not doing near as good as you... started at 309 and only lost 82 lbs so far now at 227. I feel a lot better but I swear that hearing how everyone has lost over 100 lbs is getting me down. I wish I knew what I was doing wrong and if I've stopped losing. I haven't lost in over 2 months. Glad for you though.. congratulations! Pam
Topic: RE: almost 1 year out....how much are you eating?
I also feel like I'm eating too much. Mainly I feel like I will and can eat anything in the house when I'm pre-menstrual. It's like I'm a bottomless pit again. But, after I start... that feeling goes away, thank goodness. I eat at least 1 cup of salad at lunch ... well, there's really very little lettuce, mostly cheese, ham, turkey, green olives, hot peppers and sunflower seeds. But I always have leftovers and I will eat the rest either around 2-3 or save it for my supper that night. I do eat a lot of cheese as snacks and I've also found Q-Smart Cereal bars by Quaker that have 10 grams of protein and only 3 net carbs .. sugar free. The Cranberry Almond are my favorite. Those are good snacks and give me an extra 10 grams of protein. I've also found Carb Countdown Chocolate Milk.. it's got a lot of protein with very little carb and tastes soooo good... just like the choc milk i remember pre-wls. It helps with any sweet tooth I have.
Labor Day we went out for breakfast with my in-laws and I ordered a Western Omelet with cottage cheese instead of potatoes and took 3 bites and was done... i felt full and sick for 3 hours afterwards. It's so weird how things do that sometimes.

Hi Angela
Great question! I am down 155lbs., and have 45 more pounds to go. I don't count calories, but try to eat healthy foods. I eat three meals a day, with one snack. Meats, cheese, and sometimes eggs are my proteins. I love fruits and veggies. I eat a bowl of cereal for breakfast. Just within the last month, I've become lactose intolerant, so I have to have Lactaid on my cereal. It isn't too bad. I eat a sandwich for lunch(lean lunchmeat and cheese)or peanut butter and jelly! I love potatoes and rice. I also love my popcorn! As for sweets, I can take a bite of icecream or cake, and I'm satisfied. I like animal crackers, too. Crystal light is my beverage, every day. I sometimes treat myself to a diet pop, but the carbonation stretches my pouch and I can eat more. So, I don't drink pop very often. I exercise at Contours, which is a gym for women. Most importantly, I'm living my life, again!!! Love, Jane 362/207/162

Hey Dawn,
My surgery date was Oct. 1st, 2003. Only two days after your surgery. I started out heavier than you, 362lbs. I have lost 155lbs., so far. My goal is to reach 160lbs. Then have my Tummy Tuck! I only have 7 more pounds to go, to reach my year goal of 200lbs. Good question! Take care. Your WL Buddy, Jane

Hi Angela,
This is a great post!
I am almost 11 months post-op. I exercise every weekday morning and eat 5-6 small meals a day. I don't count calories or fat, but I do count my protein intake and eat a well-balanced, healthy diet 85-90% of the time. I haven't run into anything that I am unable to consume except soda. I don't eat a lot of pasta, rice, or bread, but I love fruits and veggies. I make sure I drink at least 80oz of water and take my vitamins daily without fail.
I am 5'8 and weigh 145 lbs (started at 251 lbs). I would like to lose about 10 more pounds, but if I don't I'm because friends say I don't look like I weigh 145 lbs. More importantly, I am healthy, and I praise the Lord EVERYDAY thanking him for this tool and the journey this has taken me on.
