I guess mine would be that people still think I took the easy way out of my weight problem. If it was so easy why didn't I choose it first instead of it being a last resort.

Always. It's the first thing I do when I get in the car. I even wear them in the back seat now. I wasn't always able to do that because they are smaller in the back seat, but for some reason I was still the same size back there as I was in the front.

Topic: RE: Getting the scale to move!
Hey Kathy,
It's my first time on this board and it's good to see a familiar face. The scales are frozen here too & I am pretty sure it isn't the temp. I have been going back & forth for over a month & don't know how to get it to move DOWNWARD past 187. I want to be at 175 before the 15th so I am walking & trying to get in the protien and I always get in at least 90 oz of water so I'm pretty sure it isn't a water issue. Any suggestions? Maybe my whine will kick start things too. I am always apprehensive to say anything cause I feel if it isn't going down steadily, then I am failing. I have lost 139 pounds, but that last 25 or so is giving me a pain.

What's your biggest pet peeve now that you've had your surgery. Mine is when my kids take and eat my "special" food. Oh how that irritates me! I buy them all the stuff they like but they like to eat my "treats" first!
Topic: Getting the scale to move!
Hi everybody!
It seems like whenever I whine about the scale not moving it does....and I REALLY want it to...so please pardon the whine!!! If anyone else would like to whine too, we can have a whine and cheese (string, of course!) party today, okay?
Goal is so close I can taste it!! My goal is 155. On Friday & Saturday the scale said 156.0...only 1 lb.! Well the past couple days it has read 157.2........I know I haven't gained, as I haven't eaten that many calories nor have I been working at building muscle, so I think its a temporary "water" thing......it happens to me, and as a daily weigher I know to expect it...I just want 155 SOOOOO BAD!!! Anyway, I am committed to drinking more water, getting in more cardio, and just fighting that scale down where it belongs!!!!
Anyony else like to share some whine with me?? Hopefully in a couple days we can also share that it worked!!

Topic: Let's share a recipe...
Hey guys!
I had a thought(scary huh?), that we might share a recipe with each other. Pam shared her Sugar-free Banana Bread recipe with us, and I hope that she has another yummy recipe to share! I'm going to share my Salmon Patty recipe...
Ingredients: 3- 7oz cans of salmon packed in water
2 cups of bread crumbs or crushed crackers
3 Lg. eggs
1/4 cup of milk
salt and pepper(optional)
Drain the cans of salmon. Then, empty the cans onto some paper towel to get the moisture out. Put the salmon into a large mixing bowl. Add the bread/cracker crumbs and the eggs. Then, add the seasoned salt and pepper according to your taste. Mix these ingredients with your hands(It mixes easier and it's FUN!) Next, add the milk a little at a time, until the mixture is "patty ready". For the best results, put the mixture in the refridgerator for 15 minutes to an hour.
If you use an electric frying pan, set the temperature at 325*. Melt a 1/4 cup of butter/margerine in the pan. Make your patties and put them into the pan. Cover and check after 5 minutes to see if the patties are brown enough for your taste. When they are brown on one side, turn them over and cover the pan. Check them after 5 minutes. When the patties are done, you can make sandwiches or have them on your plate with veggies and/or a salad, and maybe some rice. My family likes them with tartar sauce! I like them on a bun with tartar sauce, lettuce and cheese. This recipe makes 7 good size patties. If you don't need to make so many, just cut the recipe in half. Enjoy!!!

Yes, ever since they were introduced. Gee, am I that old? They make sense. I taught my kids to wear them and two totaled cars later, they both walked away from horrid wrecks without a scratch. The main idea for seatbelts that I always think of is this.
Walk toward a wall. Throw you hands up and stop yourself from hitting the wall. (Hey that was easy)
Now, run toward the wall at your fastest speed. Throw your hands up and stop yourself from hitting the wall. The blood running down your face is from your broken nose. The bruise on your cheek will heal in a few days. Now you were only running at lets say 10 MPH and you could not stop yourself from hitting the wall. What's going to happen inside a care without a seatbelt at 30, 50, or 70 MPH? Ouch.
Ever seen a kid shake a bee inside a jar?
Topic: RE: 11 months out
Pam,
Don't get bummed or discouraged. I was at the same wt. from End of June all the way thru most of August. I was totally bummed but decided in July to put away the scale.... took the batteries out and don't even bother now... I evaluated what I was eating and didn't really change too much but cut out some of the carbs and quit stressing the scale..(I swear I am a total scale slave if I don't shove that sucker in a hole).. well to make a long story almost done once I started doing some reevaluations, a little tiny bit of walking and quit stressing the scale I started dropping again. Last time I checked I had lost another 10 lbs but that was about a month ago and I am sure that I have lost even more yet because the clothes are telling me so.
Good Luck and don't get bummed.... If you do what you're supposed to do your body will do what it's supposed to do. Keep me posted. Angie

I do wear a seatbelt because I remember watching an episode of Doogie Howser, M.D. where Doogie's girlfriend Wanda's mother was killed in an auto accident and Wanda was upset with her mother because she never wore her seatbelt because she didn't want to wrinkle her clothes. I realized that I needed to wear it for my kids if nothing else. I also require all my passengers to put theirs on too... I am not going to be driving a car in which a person died because they didn't have it on. My daughters always wear theirs and require their passengers to too. I'm proud of you all!

When I was about 3 months out, I put a seat-belt on for the first time, in a very long time. My 5 year old said, "Mommy you're wearing your seat-belt, now you'll be safe!" This brought tears to my eyes. Kids are very aware of what is going on around them. I hugged him and told him that I promised to always wear a seat-belt, from now on! Good question, Pam
