Topic: Help, what would you do????
I am due to see my surgeon for a 1 year check up. We usually just have a [very large - 50+ post ops from all ranges of the journey] group meeting and discuss how things are going with a PA serving as mediator. Then we are weighed and that is it. Never a 1 on 1 thing with the surgeon. It is a 4 hour drive 1 way and a stay over night for me to see them. I am doing good and my pcm takes care of all of my after care blood work etc... Should I go to the [surgeon's] "support group meeting"? I am enclined to blow it off and not go. Do you think i will miss a milestone on my journey... closure... Just wondering what ya'll would do.

That bothers me too Peggy... It's one reason I still haven't told everyone about my surgery. Also because I can just see them looking me over with a magnifying glass watching to see when I will screw up and start gaining again. Grrrr!

Oh yeah, that bugs me too.... but now my daughters are doing South Beach diet so I am stealing some of THEIR food now... lol.

I haven't broken my "hotness" yet... I wish I would cool down some. I'd much rather be cold than hot... there's only so much you can take off and still go out in public! LOL
I have a co-worker in my office that freezes too... but she wears these sleeveless & tanktop type of shirts... I want to tell her to dress decently and she wouldn't get so darn cold. She's always wanting to turn the air off... grrr... that's why I will never work without a mini-fan sitting on my desk. I cannot stand to be hot.

Okay... I'm desperate.... I'll join in on the whining!!! LOL
I've been stuck for 3 months now... I am starting to get upset about it. I think it could be my lack of exercise but I swear by the time I get home from work and cook supper, I am just pooped out. I am thinking of calling my dr. to get some blood work. Last time I went, she told me I had all the symptoms of depression and prescribed me Effexor. I really don't think I'm depressed and I didn't feel any different taking the meds except it made me really sleepy which I DID NOT NEED.
Soooo is that enough whining??? Or do i need to double up my whining?? LOL Take care gals... Pam
Topic: RECIPE: Orange Stuff
Here you go Jane.... I don't know what the "official" name of this is but we always call it 'that orange stuff'.. lol. It helps me SO MUCH when I have a sweet tooth and it's got a good amount of protein.
Orange Stuff
1 large container of low fat cottage cheese (small curd)
1 large box of sugar-free orange jello
1 can of pineapple tidbits (or crushed) in it's own juice, drained (tidbits are MUCH easier to drain)
1 large tub of Cool Whip Light (I've used regular too with no problem)
Mix all together and let sit in the fridge overnight... this orange stuff is yummy!

I strongly feel that a support group makes a difference. I did not go to any support group meetings when I was early post op. There were none in my city and I had to much going on to travel. Finally in January, I started a support group in my city. It has made a big difference for me. I can ask questions, share joy, and do little things like dinners, clothing exchanges, recipe exchanges. I adore the group and only wish that I knew these people pre op and in the crucial period just after surgery.
