Topic: On a plateau, can't drop the last 20lbs...
Hi there everyone. I started the WL journey in May of 03. I am 5'2" and started at 217 lbs. I am 1 year and 2 months post op. I currently weigh 152 lbs. I have 20 lbs to get to my goal and have been stuck for about 4 months. I was told to cut my carbs. I can basically eat anything in small amounts. I need a hernia operation and am trying to decide if I should have the tummy tuck at the same time, or wait until the last 20 lbs is gone. Any suggestions?
P.S. I just love reading all the stories on this website. You are all courageous for the decisions you have made. May God continue to bless you all.

Like it? I LOVE IT! I tried some the other day and dumped on just a few oz though I know they have low fat versions I may have my family get for this holiday. Back in Michigan we always mix Eggnog with Vernors (A type of Ginger Ale) and it's really good.
I also tried EggNog Latte at Starbucks and dumped on that big time. I guess this surgery is working and not letting me get away with that stuff. Whoopie... i guess

Hi Connie... I think you've done fantastic! 140 lbs is just great. I've only lost 86 and my surgery was the day before yours. Don't be discouraged... just keep up the good work and you'll get there! Pam

Hi Jane... I am glad you posted this thread! I started at 309 on 10-13-03 and am now at 223 (last time I weighed, that is). I have been stuck for a few months at 223 but I know I need to exercise more. I have been a slow loser because of this, i think. I also wanted to lose more weight before my sister came at Christmas from Texas to visit me but I've been so busy I haven't made the time to do the exercise I need to to do it.
Everyone has done so great... i feel like a failure sometimes because I am not below 200 yet but I do feel so much better than I did before so I know I am much healthier plus I don't have to take any meds.
I just need to get my butt in gear and be determined to get the exercise. I am thinking of buying an elliptical machine for my home. I just am not doing the treadmill thing and heard that the elliptical is a better work out. My husband wants to know what makes me think I'll do the elliptical when I don't walk on the treadmill. I don't know the answer to that but I am hoping that I will.
Topic: RE: Scale stuck.....
Tanya,
My scale is really doing stupid things. Last week, I lost 1 pound everyday. I haven't done that at all since surgery (or ever for that matter). I didn't change a thing.... nothing different than I've been doing for the last 3 months. Then, this week... it's climbing back up. Still nothing different. I've always been an everyday weigher and I know my body's cycle... I always drop a few pounds right before my cycle; then during it goes back up and after it is back to the low weight that I had right before. However, I'm no where close to this cycle at the moment. This crazy thing just happened.

It's been one year, two months , I have lost 140 lbs. ! I am so proud of myself but yet kind of discouraged at the same time. I was so hoping that I would be at my goal by one year. I am down to 200 lbs. but I was hoping for 150 lbs. Oh well, I will keep plugging away! I need to just get the exercise up! It really helps to see the progress that you all have made!

Adrienne...I soooo commend you on your incredible bravery and IMMENSE strength. What a strong lady you are. I'm so happy that you sought and found the help that you needed and that you're running the race to win! It's sooo easy to as you mentioned drop one addication and pick up another...especially with our compulsion to overdo everything. Anyway...just wanted to let you know that your post has both touched and inspired me. You're awesome!

Topic: Scale stuck.....
but I am still shrinking. I am amazed that my scale has not done anything very interesting lately but low a behold I am shrinking in size. The only thing that I can attribute it to is that I have been working out with a personal trainer two days a week in addition to the other five days a week that I work out and she must be helping me build muscle and loose the fat. We all know that muscle weighs more than fat and takes up less spcae. I have only gone down about 6-8 pounds in the last 6 weeks but have gone from size 14/16 to size 8/10. I am thrilled mind you but I would like to see the scale jump on board with the program. It just seems ironic that I can be 5'6", wiegh 180 pounds and be a size 8/10!! But that is what my jeans say. Oh well there are worse things that is for sure!!!
