Welcome to the loser's club Pam. I had my surgery on 10-14-03. I have lost 77#'s so far. We all have the plateau. I went 2 weeks with no lose and then 2 times of only 2#'s for the week. It gets better. I wish you all the luck. Take care and get back with me if you have any questions or feel like chating. Renee

I am Pam from Michigan. I had open RNY on 10-13-03. I've lost 54 lbs so far. I have stayed the same for 3 weeks now and wondering if I am on a plateau but from what others have told me, sometimes your body takes a break and has to catch up. I hope they're right... it's scary to think that I'm done losing. I see that by most of your posts (in the rollcall) that I am just about the same as some of you which makes me feel better. I guess we have such a drastic weight loss in the beginning that we want to see that continue, well at least I did... I am so glad that you are all doing so well... keep up the good work. I'll be posting more often. Thanks!

Congratulations! 63 lbs is great! I'm so glad that your lab work came back normal. I am scheduled to have mine on Monday. I was 3 months post op on 1-13-04. I hope that you don't have a stricture... that would be terrible. Good Luck! Pam

I went back to college and could fit in the desk!!! I like looking at myself in the mirror, saggy skin and all. I love the look my husband gives me when I walk in the room. Wait a minute, he used to look at me like that before. I have a great husband. Karen

Ann, my sister, Anne also, had surgery over a year ago and she had trouble with energy. She didn't really get any until about 5 months out. I have been blessed with not having that problem. I am 3 months out and have a lot of it. I don't like any protien shakes. I just eat protien at every meal. Sometimes I take one bite of something else, but I am mostly eating eggs, yogurt, cheese, and meat. Keep at it, your energy will return. Karen

Great Nina, I have been blessed too in that I can eat anything I want too. I feel satisfied too because I get full. You are lucky you had it done at your age. I am 44 and wish I had it done sooner. Karen

I had my 3mo ck-up on 1/22 and was down 63 lbs. My lab work all came back good. Actually my Hgb and Hct was higher than before surgery. The bad part is my doctor felt I had a stricture again so I went back yesterday for a scope and on liquid until tomorrow evening. This is the first time since surgery that I have actually been hungry but I think it is because I know I can't eat. Marilyn 10/22/03 362/299/??

Hi Toni - I had my lapRNY on October 20th. To date, I've lost 48 pounds. I went over three weeks without losing a pound and now it's slowly starting to move again. I've really noticed it in my clothes though. I started at 244 and a size 22-24. I'm now at 196 and a snug size 16. I feel so much better. I have been so fortunate and have experienced zero complications but have been pretty compliant with doctor's orders! If I could only drink all the water I'm supposed to I'd probably see quicker results...I'm working on it. Keep up the good work.

Hi and congratulations all!! I had my Lap RNY on 10/16/03 and I lost a total of 54lb since the surgery. I'm finally feeling better; the first 2 months were difficult. I can't say I'm brave enough to try "new food"; I'm sticking to the recommendation of the nutritionist (lean protein, fruit and cooked vegetables until month 4). I still have the fear of "re-gaining", after yo-yoing for years and I don't want to go through this again. I still have 46lb to go, so let's see where I'm at the next roll call. Hi everyone. I had my surgery 10/08/03 I'm a 46 year old wife and mother, I've lost 68 pounds since surgery. I walk 1 mile every morning and 1 mile in the evening. I've gone from a 26/28-30/32 to a 18/20. I feel great!! only had a few eating issues, I've never dumped, But then I've never pushed it either. I've had a few friends tell me about their dumping, and I want NO part of it. I've met some of the nicest, sweetest people who have this common bond of gastic bypass surgery. I would not change it for the world!!!!
