Topic: RE: Hair Loss
Hi Rosemary,
I have lost 72 pounds since surgery Oct. 1st and I too am losing lots of hair. My surgeon says it basically happens to some people, and really the only thing experts can say is to up your protein, so I am supplementing with 1 to 2 atkins protein shakes a day. My hair was thin to begin with, a heredity thing, so I have made the very tough decision to wear a wig. I purchased a Rachel Welch wig and have worn it for 2 weeks. This was a tough decision for me - I guess you could say I am vain, but on the upside, I get more compliments on my hair than I have ever gotten in my life. It looks really natural. I wish I had a magic cure for you, but I don't think there's one out there.
Good luck with your continued weight loss!!

Hi Linda... welcome to the group. You and I are very similar. I started at 237 and am at 191 now.... 46 pounds. A little slower than many, but I am a very happy camper. Keep up the great work!
Topic: RE: I want the truth from you all.....
Hi Ann
I do take my vitamins religiously. I am taking 2 Flinstones a day, plus biotin and my calcium. I also take flax seed oil a couple of times per week. I added this because I started to have problems with an itchy scalp and the doctor said I needed more 'fat' in my diet. In terms of how much I am eating... about 750 calories per day... give or take. I am losing anywhere from 2-3 pounds per week. A little slower than most, but for me 10-12 pounds per month is a wondeful thing I also do try and get in all my protein. I do this mainly by having a protein drink in the morning and one at night. My biggest problem right now is exercise. I have just not had time to go. I joined Curves last week but have not gone yet because of long hours at work... Hopefully next week. Do not worry about the plateau. Like all of you I have had a couple where I have gone a couple of weeks and nothing... so hang in there it will strat to drop again. Good Luck!

Topic: Just found all of you!!!!
Hi everyone,
I am so excited I just found this site. You are just what I have been needing. It is so cool just reading what all of you are doing and feeling. I am almost 4 months post opp on the 9th. Everything is going well. I haven't had any complications. I am so glad I had this surgery. It is surely a gift. I am losing my hair right now but I am taking liquid vitamins and a vitamin called biotin, everyday! I guess it is not as bad as it could be. I am down 46 lbs. It is very slow for me. I am going to curves 3 days a week and walk 2 to 3 miles on the other days. I have the protein intake down pat. I am getting 20 grams a proein 3 times a day. I eat 3 ozs of meat, which I weigh, 3 times a day and alot of water in between. I don't have any room for anything else and I am not hungry for the first time in my life. That in its self is a gift. I do alot of shrimp or fi**** took me a few months to be able to eat shrimp. I can now and I love it. Anyway thanks for all of you being here. Its great to be connected.

Topic: RE: Hair Loss
Hi Rosemary,
I too am losing my hair. I went and had a hair cut and I am taking a vitamin called biotin thats suppose to be for hair. I don't think it is falling out as bad as it could be but I am also taking liquid vitamins so they will inter into my system faster and my body is getting 95% absorbtion rate. But I think hair loss just comes with the territory. Darn it. But after the hair cut it seems to be better. So thats what I am doing.

Topic: RE: Having problems with protein shakes
HI try Nectar Protein you can get it off line at www.wlssuccess.com and they have samples you can buy it is not that bad tasting they have apple strawberry kiwi, and they do not mix up to thick. Also I do herbal life shake with choc soy milk and frozen strawberries that is not to bad either but it does give you more calories. So I use that as a meal. If you do not have a herbal life person in your area try on line.
Topic: RE: January 2004 Roll Call
OK Sorry I am a little late with the roll call it is Feb 5 but I have to tell ya. I am down 70 pounds!!!!... This was the best thing I could of done. I find that I am still losing from 5 to 7 pounds a week when I drink 60 to 80 oz of water every day. To tell you th truth I do not get that many calories in I am only getting about 600 to 750 a day because I drink all tha****er.
The doctor hasn't really asked how many calories so I haven't told him all he is worried about is Protein. which I do not get as much as I should but I am getting better at it.
Tell me has anyone else been losing their hair I started taking special vitamins for my hair in hope that it stops falling out. PLease replay to this post and let me know if you have heard any ideas about hair loss
