Well, Thanks for all the info. I know I have to up my protein it is the hard part I have also started the Biotin 1600 mcg a day. Hopefully I will be able to slow it down some.
I have to say I do not regret doing this I have never felt so good about myself as I do at this point in my life. I guess we kind of have to take the good with the bad.
Thanks again everyone. It is great to have people answer your questions it really helps and just to know that you are not alone in what you have done.

Hello Rosemary.
I was told by the nutritionist that attended our last support group meeting that we are suppose to be taking our weight divided by 2.2, then take that figure and multiply it by .8 or 1.0 and that will give you the amount of protein you should be consuming to avoid hair loss and promote weight loss. I have not lost any hair, in fact it is growing like crazy. I also started protein shakes and boitin vitimins two months before I had my surgery and take my vitimins daily. I also use the nioxin product line, it cost alittle more, but it's worth it to me. I hope this helps. Hang in there, it'll get better!!

Congratulations to everyone on their weight loss. I find that my weight loss is slowing down a bit now. But I am so so satisfied... I am still exercising three days a week and walking everyday. I think that I am going to start exercising two more days a week to see if that will pick things up some... Great job all!!!

Hi Ann,
Yes I take my Vitamins each morning, before surgery i was taking 15 pills daily and now I only have to take 3 so it is no biggy for me. I had surgery on the 22nd of Oct. 2003 and have had my 3 month blood work done and all is great so I am pleased. I have experienced no hair loss. But have developed an allergic reaction to either my peanuts or shrimp and shell fish we have not figured it out yet.

Welcome aboard Linda, I believe we share the same surgeon, Dr. Wetter out of Burlingame? Isn't he just the best ever!!! I was so blessed to have him as a surgeon and to have this surgery period. My life has changed immensely for the better. Glad to hear you are doing great. Keep up the great work. Many blessings to you on your journey.

Hi Rosemary, I am have lost 70 lbs since surgery and 30 lbs prior to surgery and my hair is falling out more than I would have thought. I started taken biotin right after surgery but it hasn't stopped my hair from falling out. I take my chewable vitamins and vitamin c and b-12 daily but not sure it helps in the hair department. I read some where to take zinc, so I did but I got the worse stomach cramps from it so I stopped. I also started using a shampoo and conditoner called Nioxin. I think this will help the re-growth to come in thicker. I have read the hair falling out will stop at month 6 or 7. Blessings to you on your journey.

Welcome to the losing side. I am 4 months post op, down 100lbs and feeling great. I have experienced some hair loss but it's minor. I try to stay active, mostly walking but I'm limited by a severely arthritic knee. I have had the opportunity to sit comfortably in movie theater seats. What a feeling, truly wonderful. I can shop at Wal-Mart instead of Big-and-Tall shops for the first time in a long, long time. Bill
