Hey MO. Hair Loss was my biggest fear in doing this surgery. and to date, I can say I have NOT experienced it. as mentioned, I believe it's because I eat lots of protein.... PROTEIN PROTEIN PROTEIN! I cant stress it enough! and if you want an extra boost, Biotin does help with hair loss too!

I was 5 months post op yesterday and have lost a total of 63.5 lbs so far. I guess I feel I am losing slow but the inches seem to be coming off. I have gone down about 7 sizes in jeans (depends on the brand). I do 45 minutes at Curves at least 3 times a week and have been walking too. I can't believe exercise if fun! Carol Beck

Hi Cherry, I have read alot on the boards that if we cut out calorie intake back too much then our bodies think we are starving and hold onto the weight. This is a strange thing but I have read about it alot. So I would think maybe kicking up the aerobic exercise a bit to start your engine burning more. I know that whenever I exercise harder or longer I see those pounds come off. Many blessings to you on your journey. Congrats on your success so far.

Amy, Thanks for responding to my email. Now that you mention "that time of the month," that is probably my problem. I usually start retaining water a week or so before that time. Maybe that's the problem. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Cherry, My weight loss will stall for 7-10 days, then pick back up again for 2-3 weeks, then stall again. I think it has something to do with my periods but more likely has to do with my lousy protein intake! When I start to get concerned I cut carbs, up protein and make double sure I'm getting my water. Same stuff that we all know to do now. It's frustrating sometimes, but it will kick in again soon. So keep the faith!!! Amy

Topic: Two Week Plateau
Hello to everyone. I just wanted to vent today. I have not LOST ONE POUND in two weeks!!!! As a matter of fact, I have strangely put on 2 pounds I am so upset about it. To top it off, all last week I had protein drinks for breakfast and salad for lunch and dinner and those things did not jump start my weight loss at all. Not to mention, I was still working out. Has anyone else experienced a plateau at four months post-op? If so, what did you do to jump start the weight loss?

Hello October Buddies. I've lost 77 total pounds. My start and highest weight was 367. I was 362 on surgery date. 4 months and 1 week post -op. As of last saturday I'm at 285. I still have a long way to go to get to my goal but as long as the the lbs keep coming off I'm happy and I have nothing but time now to lose it so 2 - 5 lbs a week is ok with me. I've started losing hair more noticable now than before. I can eat just about anything but I'm trying to keep it to the healthy low- fat. low carb, high protien diet. I walk about 1 mile a day on the treadmil and as much as I can around the office during the the day at work. Feeling great. I have not ventured into the stores to buy new clothes yet. But I can feel the old ones fitting so very loosely. Spring time is here now.. what a great time to go shopping for new spring clothes. Congratulations to everyone's success! Keep up the great work Barbara Watts - Sacramento, CA

How funny you say that. That was the first thing I noticed when I started to really see my weight loss. I was sitting watching tv still recovering from my open rny and I looked down to see my shin bones. Something I had not seen in years. I said the exact same thing. "Hey I can see my shin bones." My father thought that was the funniest thing and has told so many people since then. It feels great. to see the thinner legs and arms. My son noticed my fingers are much thinner, not to mention it's time to go get my high school class ring re-sized. It's spinning around my finger and I am afraid I will lose it. Just so you know how longs it's been since my fingers have been this thin. I graduated from high school 20 years ago. Finally my fingers are smaller than they were in highschool. Great job everyone.. AWSOME! way to go! the changes in our bodies is so amazing. I've noticed that my knees hurt when I lie in bed on my side and have my legs on top of each other and the bones rest on each other instead of having that nice layer of fat. I have to use a pillow between my legs now. So wierd! Do you have that?

Karen, isn't it an awesome feeling to see those bones that have been hidden for so long. My husband tells me my wrists, arms and feet are looking boney. Just another little blessing on this amazing journey.
