Topic: RE: How many times do you weigh yourself????
Emily, Thanks for your response. Believe me it is hard to hold out for a month. I always want to know where I am at. But my clothing sizes help me know too. I know I workout harder towards the end of the month to assure my weigh in the next month will be good. So at least there is some incentive. Congrats on your success so far. Keep up the good work.

Topic: RE: What is your goal for this month?
Denise, When I first had surgery, I set monthly weight targets. So far, I haven't even come close to meeting any of them. However, I looked at the one I set for March and my goal said 235 by 3/15. I'm very close, 238.5 as of this morning. Right now, my goals are to keep going to the gym, keep track of my food on fitday.com, eat my protein, and keep my calories about 600 per day. Jackie

Topic: RE: March 04 Roll Call
Good Morning!! I really love these roll calls. Let's see. Where do I start? Well, first.. I feel grrrrrrrreeeeeeeat. I still haven't thrown up since surgery. My hair loss is minimal. I have gone from a 32 (with lycra) to a 22 (no lycra jean) and I can even squeeze (literally) into a 20 jean. My weight loss is interesting. It started out slow, but has been gradually moving. I'm working out at the gym about 3 classes per week and walking on my off days from the gym. On Suday, I'm doing a 5K (walking). On April 17th... A 10K and on June 13th a triathalon (1/2 mile swim, 12 mile bike and 3 mile walk/run). I teach junior high and even the students are starting to ask me about my weight loss.... that's weird for 13-15 year olds to notice anything but themselves! My husband has always been supportive, but lately... he has been more AWESOME than ever. Ok, so here's the deal... 1997 - banding 396 to 255 10/2003 - revision to RNY 310 to 238.5 So, I've lost 157.5 total --- 71.5 since October

EVIL = rice (makes me VERY full and then no room for protein) chips (because I can eat too many) popcorn (because I can eat too much) pickles (I feel full on one bite) Good Foods = nuts (organic with no oils or salt) yogurt (with a little bit of grapenuts) chicken (moist) cheese (cheddar or string) ice tea (no sugar or caffine)

Wow only once a month that is great! I was proud of myself for only weighing myself once a WEEK. But you are even better. Some days it is hard for me to wait the whole week too. I had never heard the only weigh once a month thing before. Alls I knew is I did not want to buy a scale and get addicted. It is so reassuring to step on that scale and see a loss, but we are getting to that stage where that is slowing down and it could be very unmotivating for some.

Topic: RE: I have shin bones
That's funny Karen! Along those lines my postop sister made a doc appt because she had some weird protrusion sticking out of her chest area. Well her pc smiled real big (kind enough not to laugh) and said, "That's your collar bone!" The first place I noticed my weight loss was my fingers. I loved to just sit there and lace my fingers together and feel the bones... just because I could

Topic: RE: March 04 Roll Call
Down 86 pounds since Halloween week! I am at 184 and am still considered severly overweight which is so hard for me to believe. I feel so much healthier now then I ever did as a size 7 or 5 in my youth. I try not to concentrate on what the scale says though. I weigh once a week just to make sure I'm not gaining. Isnt' that strange - I'm afraid I'll gain it all back or the tool will quit working It has been so fun to wear xl tops and 14 pants. Actually I will be ordering my first size of 12s from oldnavy.com pretty soon. My 14s I bought just 3 weeks ago are already getting a little big. Aren't we at a fun stage in our journey?! My husband has been loven' the new me. I told him, "I'm still the same person, just smaller." He disagreed and said I am smaller but I'm much happier. WOW we are blessed!

Topic: RE: Two Week Plateau
My last plateau lasted about 2 weeks also and I only lost 1 lb. Then one day I got on the scale and it was 3 lbs lighter than the day before. I think maybe due to the time of the month when we are retaining water. I noticed I'll go days w/ no weight loss and then all of a sudden it starts dropping again. Go figure! Laura Lap RNY 10/24/03 372/294 -78 lbs. (Can't complain)
