Topic: Is salt your enemy?
Okay, I just read on another post that salt was an issue. Or salty snacks that is. I LOVE salt. Here's what I do to help that urge. Buy some of that Old English cheese - spread it on some destringed celery - crunch - protein and somewhat salty Pork Rinds - If you want - nuke them with cheese on top Fauxritos - take a piece of processed cheese and put it on a microwavable pamed plate, sprinkle with taco seasoning, nuke for a minute and voila - a fake dorito - hence fauxrito! Go crazy, add some salsa, spread some cream cheese - add some pepperoni chips! Pepperoni chips - put 10 on a plate and nuke the kerap out of them. protein, crunchy and salty! 10/31/03 -77!!!

Topic: RE: How many times do you weigh yourself????
Hello my name is Toni and I am a scale-a-holic. I weigh every morning when I get up, which is 5 a.m. I always weigh naked and after I have gone to the bathroom - we all know that urine weighs a whole lot Weighing this much does drive one crazy because you see all the fluctuations. Sometimes I gain and lose the same pound over and over again for days before they scales show a loss. For example, for the last week, I have been between 214 and 211, today being 212. Can anyone help me, is there a support group. Can you tell me your secret??!!

Topic: RE: March 04 Roll Call
Hi, I had my surgeryon 10/23 and have lost about 57 pounds so far (269 to 212). Gone from a 22W pants and 2-3X tops to size 16 regular pants and XL tops. The last time I lost weight (in 1998) I got down to 175 pounds and was wearing a size 12 - so that is my goal this time - only this time after WLS, I do not anticipate gaining it back. Anyway, I have been gradually getting back into the clothes that I kept from 1998 and it has been great. But this morning was the best. I have a size 12 Eddie Bauer jean skirt that buttons and zips up like jeans (no rubber in the waist or anything). Anyway, I put it on this morning to gauge my weight loss and I could actually button it and zip it up. Now it was very, very tight and I don't think I would actually wear it anywhere right now (though I have seen people on the street in skin tight clothes) but I was so glad to be able to get it on. My goal was to wear it for my birthday which is May 12 - I think I am on track for that. My hair is falling out in droves, but I have read on the board about some products that may work so I am going to buy them this weekend. One of my main problems is that I don't exercise because of my hectic schedule. Now that it is warm, my daughter will begin going back to swimming every night and while she is in the pool, I will be exercing in another part of the complex. Hopefully, that will jump start the pounds coming off again for the Spring. Anyway, enough of that. I have been on a couple of really rough plateaus - one that lasted from Thanksgiving to after New Years. I try not to get discouraged, especially now since everyone is starting to comment on how good I am looking - but I really am a slave to the scale. I weigh every morning at 6:00 a.m. (okay, okay, I know I am obsessed), so every little fluctuation I see. I really am trying to get myself into weighing once a week - I will keep you posted on my success. So, to all of us, I say a job well done and I look forward to all of us continuing on this journey toward our goals.

Topic: RE: Two Week Plateau
Hi Cherry. I had my surgery 3 days after you on 10/23 and I have lost 57 pounds so far. Anyway, I had a plateau that lasted from Thanksgiving to almost New Years. I stayed 233 for almost that whole time - going up and down the same couple of pounds for weeks. Anyway, after the first of the year it started dropping off and I now am 212, but have been stalled here for about 2 weeks. What I think is that our bodies will drop a lot of weight, but then stop to readjust itself (at least that's what I hear from my doctor and on the boards). Just think, if we always lost a pound a day for instance, that would be 30 pounds a month - now that would be unhealthy for an extended period of time. I also agree that "that time of the month" is not our friend because all of my friends who have had the surgery believe that they do not lose weight during this time. Hope this is helpful - keep up the good work.

Hey Adrienne, I noticed you live in Maryland also. I live in Upper Marlboro. Why don't you e-mail me directly, if we are close, maybe we can be each others regular support.

Hi October buddy - welcome aboard. I come to this site every once in a while, most of the time I stay on the main board. I had my surgery on 10/23 and started out at 269 (I am 5"6). I was wearing a size 22W bottoms and 2-3X tops. Today, I am 212 and am wearing size 16 regular pants and XL tops (though since I am so well endowed, I sometimes still have to get 1X). Anyway, I say all this to say that weight loss has not been phenomenal since I have only lost 57 pounds in 4+ months and sometimes I get very discouraged when I read on the board about people losing 50 pounds in a month or two. But I also realize that they must have started out larger than me so of course the weight would drop faster. I just try to stay the course. But I have one question. Being this far out now, is anyone else always hungry. I find myself having to struggle with not eating all the time and if I am not careful, I seem to be able to pack away a lot of food. For example, I used to be able to eat only 1/2 of a Subway Atkins wrap, now I find I can eat the whole thing most times and not feel the sick overfull feeling. And, though I am not a sweets person, my old demon is salty snack foods and it has been really had to resist the Utz potato chips and the new Fritos honey bar-be-que twists. Can you guys give me some advice on how you deal with it. Most of the time I do resist cause I know the result is weight gain (I have gotten on the scales a few times after a salty binge and actually gained a pound or two). Whoa, I know this post was supposed to be about welcoming Adrienne to our site, just got a little of track. Welcome, welcome, welcome.
