Topic: Our minds are trying to adjust, too...
I know that everybody is seeing the changes in our physical appearance, but have any of you thought about the mental changes that we're going through, too? We have to reprogram our minds to the reality that we "fit in to society", now. Here's an example, from my own personal experience. My husband and I went to a baseball game(I hadn't been able to go in years) I felt very uncomfortable sitting in between people, instead of sitting on the end. For the obvious reason, I didn't want to climb over people. When I told my husband how I felt, he said that I had to realize that I wasn't that 362lb. woman, anymore. Makes sense, but my mind still saw that fat person trying to get by people. So, if any of you are feeling blue, this may be why. Remember, our bodies and minds work together, so we have to try and get them on the same page! Your weight loss friend, Jane

Topic: Lack of energy / B-12 shots
Just wanted to let everyone know that I have been getting b-12 shots every friday for the last couple of weeks and some of my energy is really starting to come back, I thought that something was wrong because here I have lost 90 lbs and don't feel like I even want to get out of bed some days so we did all of my bloodwork which was fine but now I take the shots and am feeling alot better. Topic: RE: I'm Blue...
Hey Deneise, I'm sorry that you're feeling so blue. You know, our bodies are going through a major change, but I don't think that we realize that it is sometimes overwhelming for our minds, too. I've had to make some adjustments in the way that I use to see a situation. For example, I went to a baseball game with my husband, for the first time in years. I felt really uncomfortable sitting in between people, and not sitting on the end.For the obvious reason of having to walk by them(squish by them)lol My husband asked me what was wrong, and when I told him, he said that you have to realize that you're not that 362lb. woman anymore. So, if we can just put into perspective, the reality that we are thinner, and that we "fit into society, now". I think that our blues will subside. I hope that this has helped in some way. Topic: RE: Biggest Joy, Biggest Regret
Hey Karen, Congratulations! WOW! Only 25lbs. to go. I've lost 121lbs., but I still have 90lbs. to go. My biggest joy is being able to play, hug, and be active with my kids without being in pain. Also, I can go to a ballgame, or the Symphony with my husband, and not worry if my rear-end will fit in a seat! It's funny that you should mention, "skin". I could take flight and fly with the extra skin that I have, now. But you know what? WHO CARES! We did this so we could feel healthy and live our lives, not just be an observer. Whenever I start looking at the "wings" that I have, I remind myself that it doesn't matter, because I feel great! When I get down to within 10-15 lbs. of my goal weight, I can get the wings, clipped. So until then, I will just enjoy the good health and happiness that my life is full of, now. Good Luck! Jane

Hey David, I'm sorry to hear that you're feeling so bad. But try to take one goal at a time. You've reached the goal that is going to help you get your heart transplant. I will pray that you will find a doner, soon. And after you get that heart transplan****ch your energy GROW!!! Take care, and hang in there. Jane

I use GNC !00% inst. Whey. It does clump bad in real ho****er, but I take a little coffee and put a little ice just to cool it down a little then put my scoop or sometimes 1 1/2 scoops of the choc protein in the cup mix it up real good then add the rest of the coffee. I sometimes add a little Irish cream to it and boy is it good!!!! I also put it in s/f hot choc sometimes. Marilyn 362/278/199 -84#

My advice would be to tell him to stay away from salt for the week-- none whatsoever!!!! The next thing is when he goes to have his blood pressure taken to psych himself up ahead of time. Sit quietly before they take it and to think of sitting in a fishing boat surrounded by water or sitting on a beach watching the waves in his mind. I used to work for a doctor and it is a known fact that a person's b/p will be higher when they see the doctor, but I used to have the patients try this and it usually worked. Marilyn

Thanks for asking such a great question Karen! I agree with you, my biggest joy right now is being able to cross my legs, tie my shoes, reach my feet(see my feet!), and fit into booths. Simple pleasures of life enjoyed by thousands but never by me for very long. My biggest regret is that I got into this mess to begin with. If I had paid attention to the exterior, I don't know. We all have to walk with the choices we made, and I made some incredibly bad ones and then rationalized them through health problems, that were made worse by my choices. LeeAnn
