Topic: RE: how much can you eat now??
Hi All! I've lost 90 pounds, so far hopefully another 30-40 to go. I can't eat that much still. For breakfast, I can eat 1 egg and a piece of bacon or oj and the steak off a steak biscuit, or about 3/4 of a half a english muffin, and sometimes the ham, cheese and egg off a egg mcmuffin. Lunches are mainly protein but only about 2-3 ounces if that much. Suppers are about the same sometimes for L and S I can eat about 1/2 a quesadilla with cheese and chicken or steak. I have started getting tropical smoothies at the smoothie place with 3xs the protein powder and splenda, the last one I got I forgot to get them to replace sugar with splenda and was sick feeling for the rest of the day and only drank half. I feel like my lack of calories may be slowing my weight loss, but I'm still glad my pouch doesn't hold much. It sure has made my food bill go down, I usually just eat off my husbands plate! Hi Melinda... I have a protein drink in the early morning and somedays, mid-morning I will have 2 scrambled eggs with cheese on top. For lunch I will eat a few slices of deli meat or what ever meat is left over in the fridge. If I am on the go I will stop at Jack in the box and get a chicken fahita pita. I try to stick to mostly protein. Oh, I also eat the lean cusiens and just eat the protein out of them. For dinner it is whatever I am cooking for the family. Tonight we are having chicken, pasta and corn. I will eat about 2 chicken tenders, a bite or two of pasta and some corn. Most of the time I dont even get to the side dishes. I do snack, sometime healthy sometimes not. Today has been a bad snacking day. Had some left over chips and salse, but tomorrow is a new day. I try to snack on cheese, fruit or a rice cake, popcorn, or deli meat. I do drink a ton of water and let myself enjoy a glass of tea once I have gotten in a good amout of water. This is my own little routein because if I would allow myself I would drink tea all day and never get in the water. I interested to see what everyone else is eating. Danni

Hi Melinda! For breakfast, I will eat a bowl of cereal w/ bananas, or a bagel w/ cream cheese and a glass of juice or milk. For lunch, I eat a sandwich or a salad w/ everything in it, and a glass of crystal light. For dinner, I eat my meat, veggie, and sometimes a potato or piece of bread, and a glass of crystal light or milk. In the evening, I have a piece of fruit or crackers and peanut butter. Just remember, what we can eat now, may seem like a lot, (compared to when we were eating after the surgery), but is no where near the amount we use to eat. I am 7 months out, now. And have lost 130lbs. I feel great, and I'm ready to take on the world!!! lol My surgery was October 1st, 2003. 362/232 As long as you're still losing, you're ok. Just eat healthy. Your WL Friend, Jane P.S. I love to eat tacos and pizza, too. I make these homemade.

Topic: RE: Water Retention
Hi Adrienne! I have very bad adema in my legs which hasn't improved much since surgery. Probably different from what you have with regular water retention, but when it gets really bad I do the following things: -cut down on sodium -double water intake (drinking more fluids helps flush the rest of the fluid out of your system) -Walk walk walk! Exercise helps pump the fluid from your body -Keep my feet elevated I tried taking some water pills a couple of weeks ago and my BP dropped like a rock! I had a lot of problems with it so I wouldn't recommend taking anything unless you talk to your surgeon and regular Dr. Good luck! Amy

The things that I'm always eating: Tuna Fish (and also any broiled moist white fish) Eggs Cheese TOFU!! Low-fat natural peanut butter I can't keep meat down (except for some fish), so I mainly follow a vegatarian lifestyle to help with ideas to get in my protein.

Hey Emily! I make homemade tacos with refried beans or chicken, instead of the beef. I put cheese, tomatoes, salsa, and lettuce on the tacos, too. I also make homemade pizza with sauce, cheese, and veggies such as green pepper, onion, and mushrooms. Sometimes, I will put ham on the pizza, too. I enjoy making up my own recipes. My support group is going to be selling a recipe book, soon. When I get it, I will send you some recipes, if you want. Your weightloss Friend, Jane 362/230

Hi Adrienne! Have you checked out the sodium content of the foods that you eat. I've noticed that a lot of low-fat and sugarless foods are high in sodium. Exercising helps me get rid of the extra water weight. I hope that something works for you. I walk an extra block, or so, when I feel this way. The "making a vow" was your I just thought that it was a great idea! Take care. Jane 362/230
