I'm shocked by how much I can eat. I can always eat a full sandwich, and can even eat a little something with it....couple carrot sticks or some applesauce..although not much. I don't really feel hunger, and have never gotten sick from eating too much. I know I have to REALLY work at making good choices, as I could easily eat too much and gain weight! Kinda scary, but so far so good! I just need to stay committed!! I don't know why it is that I can eat so much. I was almost ridiculous about following the rules, so can't imagine how I could've stretched my pouch. But I'm at goal and holding, so I just thank God and watch myself closely! Kathy

Hi, I'm 5'1" and started at 223 a size 22 and now I'm at 110 and holding at a size 2-4, I had the finishing touches done in January, a tummy tuck and extra skin remove from the arms as well as a thigh lift. Carolyn at one point I could eat often and still loose but that stopped so now I have to watch myself a little more. I feel great, and I weigh myself everyday because recently I started to tolerate most foods, though I can't each much of anything at a time. I can't believe how fast time flew by, I'm grateful for the by-pass surgery because though it's not the first time I loose a lot of weight it is the first time that I kept if off, what a wonderful tool. Some days I can eat a whole sandwich other days only about a 1/4 of one.It seems as though some days I need more than others.I don't get a hunger sensation since I've had the surgery. So I pretty much have to eat by the clock. And density of the Item has alot to do w/ it.

How much can you eat right now? I started out the size of an egg. I can now eat a full sandwhich (almost). Wow that seems like a lot. I know it depends on the item we are eating; it's density etc. but i always worry my portions are too big. I rarely eat until I'm full. I try to stop b4 that. So I guess I'm just suprised it stretched so fast.

I've lost 129 pounds since my Oct '03 surgery! How exciting. I'm still working on the last 15 pounds. I'm counting on running to help lose that last bit of stubborn weight. My hubby says if I'd get my tt and lift I'd probably lose most of that But I'm STILL payn' off my 1st surgery. Life is good. This surgery has been a blessing. It is still hard work but it seems more managable now. Losing 15 pounds is more realistic then 100! I can eat almost a full sandwhich now. That is kind of scary. But I'm told by other post ops it is normal. I catch myself wanting to drink water when I'm eating. But I keep reminding myself that this weight can come back on UNLESS I follow the rules. Good Luck EVERYONE!

Topic: RE: vitamin question?
my nutritionist and surgeon advised as follows (DAILY): 1 b12 sublingual (or you can do a shot 1x month) 2 chewable Flinstones (chewable is preferred so it will dissolve easier) 2 Calcium CITRATE (citrate dissolves better than carbonate in our new pouch) 1 Iron - chelated (pronounced Key-Lated) This form of iron is better digestible for our pouch. 1 C - chewable. ____________________________ Other Notes: It is all about dissovling in time to be benificial. To test your pills put it in a cup of room temp water. Time for 20 min. If it is then dissolved your body will benefit from it. B12 - you can not O.D. on so I take every day just to be in the habit. Although my nutritionist said I could get away with only taking it once or twice a week. But my theory is why *****e on a few pennies a day. If I take it everyday it is a habit and I'm less likey to forget. Our new stomaches can't process b12 out of food anymore. I hear of so many post ops who have iron problems. Once the iron levels go down they are VERY hard to get back up. Good luck. Vitamins/Minerals are so important to everyone - but to us even more so now.

Hey Carolyn, Congrats on your progress! I am 5'3" started at 251down to 124 & thankfully holding. I was having the same problem as you are. I was getting down to 119 but that was too low for me. I looked gaunt & unhealthy. What I had to do was to stop exercising. It has leveled me out at 124. Good luck. Judy

Carolyn, thanks for the roll call, we seem to be quite quiet on this board lately. I started at 257 and am now at 130. I've pretty much been this weight since summer. My appreciation for this tool never ends. I've been going through so much personal turmoil lately that I've forgotton some of the stuff that keeps me balanced. I'm doing my best to recognize that and get back on track. The only things I have truly slated to do this month are: Go to my attourney on Monday and get briefed. Go to court on Tuesday and HOPEFULLY win against Son of Satan Take my vitamins. Pay my OUTRAGEOUS tax bill (sigh) Have a sewing date with my mother Appreciate my family more each day. Kinda like the theory I love you more today than yesterday but less than tomorrow. Take care of me. Hope all is well in our October 03 babies worlds!
