Sabrina,
Dear G*D what is wrong with a 14 or a L You are 5'8 for goodness sake! I am trying to accept the fact that my "BMI" will never be "Normal" though I wear a size 6- at 5'3. Heck I look good and I bet you do too! Stay with the program, just don't gain- it sounds like you are happy with your strength, and you feel wonderful, what makes you think you are a failure?
I would be willing to bet you lose a lot with the LBL.

Sabrina,
I'm not in your situation right now, but I have been in the past. I glanced at your profile and checked your beginning weight. I started out at 396 with my first WLS. I was considered "super morbidly obese". I don't know if the medical industry has noticed the trends that I have noticed, but I will tell you what I have seen (only from belonging to lots of revision groups)... it seems that the heavier a person is when they have WLS... the less likely they are to achieve a "normal" body weight with only one procedure. I have seen lots of combinations... banding to RNY; RNY add a band; RNY proximal to RNY distal; Banding to RNY to DS... etc. I'm not in anyway telling you to run out and have another surgery. It sounds like you are perfectly happy where you are at. The other consideration is that you are tall. I have heard in the past to allow 5lbs per inch in height when comparing your body weight to someone elses. For example, I have a friend that is 4'11"... I'm 5'5" that's 6" difference. So, If I weigh 155 and she weighs 125 we should theoretically be the same size. The other consideration is your level of physical strength. You know that muscle weighs much more than fat. So, if you are working out with weights and I think that's what I understood you to say... of course your scale is going to have a higher number than if you were composed of mostly fat.
I only got to 255 with my first surgery so, that would look like 270 for you.... of course I didn't work out and mine was FAT. I'm sure that after your body lift, especially with the contoured muscles you've been building... you will be absolutely perfect!!
Good Luck,
Jackie

I am seeing everyone on here and it seems I am the only one that is still "heavy". I wear 14 and L. Dont get me wrong I am so happy and I actually like being full figured I have NEVER wanted to be skinny but I am wondering if I am the only one nearly 2 years post and like this. I work out and eat right and I totally feel great! My hubby seems to think I work out with too much weight but I like it, it feels good being strong and healthy. I do have tons of extra skin (hope to have body lift soon) but I was hoping to have someone out there to talk to who is in the same boat as me. TTFN Sabrina 5'8'' 220lbs

Hey Kathy, sounds like life is doing wonders for you. Congrats on your new marriage.
I too have been at goal for a long time, but haven't been able to do plastics (sigh), I put on a few pounds, which makes me happier, because believe it ornot, a few pounds on such a small frame makes a huge difference.
The head is the hard part, the no more wow moments is a little weird too, but the end result has been so wonderful.
Ihad my tumor taken out of my arm 9 days ago and my fingers are still super numb, but that's really been my biggest draw back.
I'm happy and healthy for the most part.

Topic: New Phoenix Support Group!!
I am starting a new support group in Phoenix, AZ serving the metro Phoenix area in June. Location is still be acquired, but I should have that finalized within the next week. This is an Obesity Help chapter. Each meeting you will learn something new about pre-op or post-op process, tips and tricks, recipes, exercises, dealing with unsupportive people, living with WLS and so much more!!
If you live in the Phoenix Metro area or ever visit this area, you are welcome to attend!! Online support is great, but face-to-face support is even better!!
"Those who attend support meetings and support gatherings will have a higher success rate in their WLS experience" ------ Colleen Cook, WLS author. No matter how far out you are, what stage you are at now (gaining/losing), etc. you should come!! ALL are welcome!
Go to website below for more information or to join the online support group!!

Topic: May Check-in...Maintaining?
Hi Everyone!
This board seems to be very quiet! Many of us have reached goal and are happily living our thinner lives. I'm wondering how easy people are finding it to maintain?
I reached goal back in October. I had my TT and then adjusted my "goal" down 10 lbs.....since that's where I was at and my body was comfortable there (and not under weight). Anyway, at first it was tricky to stop losing, but I have stayed almost exactly the same (within 1/2 pound) since January 2nd! I still weigh myself a couple times a week...record it once a week, just so that I know I'm under control.
I still drink a protein drink every morning, and do vitamins and minerals as I have right along. Sometimes I struggle to get my water or exercise in, but I definitely do better than I ever did pre-op!
My main struggle at this point is mental! People are adjusting to me at this size, so the "Wow" moments have subsided..I'm not the focus of attention so much anymore. The head hunger/emotional eating demon is a struggle some days. I know that (for me anyway) this is the hardest..and most important...part of this journey. Now is when "forever" really begins, and I must stay on track so that I don't regain.
Otherwise, my life is great! I got married two weeks ago, and had the beautiful, enchanting day of my dreams! I was even the thin bride that I always was in my dreams! I have started a golf league again, and have a great partner who wants to walk the course with me, so that we are getting in our exercise.
So, how is everyone else doing?
Kathy
