It's been one year, two months , I have lost 140 lbs. ! I am so proud of myself but yet kind of discouraged at the same time. I was so hoping that I would be at my goal by one year. I am down to 200 lbs. but I was hoping for 150 lbs. Oh well, I will keep plugging away! I need to just get the exercise up! It really helps to see the progress that you all have made!

Hi Connie... I think you've done fantastic! 140 lbs is just great. I've only lost 86 and my surgery was the day before yours. Don't be discouraged... just keep up the good work and you'll get there! Pam

Hello Connie! You have come so far, and yet you want to be at the end of the road. I understand perfectly. The light is there, and it is much brighter these days...just keep walking toward it one step at a time. My surgery was 10/09/03 and I am 20 lbs from my goal..been at this plateau for 4 months. My problem stems from not exercising enough. Just to lazy to get out there and get it done. I now suffer from a torn rotator cuff and am looking at surgery for that. It will be a breeze compared to what I have already done! Good luck to you, and may God help you on your journey. Dyanna S

Connie, I am almost 15 months out (10/7/03). When I started this journey I didn't have a set goal weight, My goals were just to be able to move around and breathe without difficulty. I didn't set a goal weight until I talked with my doctor at 9 months post-op and then we decided on 150. I'm just starting to fluctuate around there. One thing I have learned is that this is an individual process, and don't get discouraged. Bottom line: I DID THIS BECAUSE I NEEDED TO - FOR ME MORE THAN ANYONE ELSE. I reached the goals I wanted, I can walk again (at a brisk pace) and breathe without difficulty, I don't need to hang onto a shopping cart and when my grandaughter graduated this past June I was not in pain trying to fit into the seats. Good luck to you, and keeping working at it, slow and steady gets the job done better than rushing. Vickie Fulmore 5'3" 345-150
