Let's check in...
We're all going through changes, including plastic surgeries. I thought maybe we could give an update on what's going on, right now. I'll start...
My highest weight was 406lbs., my surgery weight was 362lbs., my current weight is 200lbs. I work-out 3 times a week, and I love that I don't have to worry about food, anymore! I participate in my families activities, something that I couldn't do before the surgery. I go to see my surgeon on January 6th, hopefully to set a date for my Tummy Tuck and to get my arm-wings clipped. Let's all give an update on how we're doing. Love you guys! Your WL Sister, Jane
Thanks Jane for the thread,
I am doing fine. My highest weight was 355, day of surgery I was 325. Today I am 182. BMI has gone from 54 to 29.4! I have gone from a tight size 32 pants to a confy size 10. I work out six days a week and have even become an instructor at my gym! I can say in all honesty that I could not have done any of this a year ago without my surgery. I do not regreat for a split second my decision. My next journey will include plastic surgery (tummy tuck, boob job, arms, legs and perhaps butt lift) I plan on an overhaul!
I wish only good things for all of you during this Season of Joy!

Hi Jane,
Good luck to you as well at your PS surgeon... Let us know how it goes. I started at a BMI of 42 at 223 (I'm short, only 5' 1") now my BMI is 21.7 and 115, and I also enjoy not worrying about food and finally not worrying about gaining weight (though I keep weighing myself every day). I work out a minimum of 3 times a week, and just recently started doing Yoga; I would have never dared put on a pair of Yoga pants before... Life has been good to me, and I can't complain... though I occasionally do .
A funny thing happened to me the other day, I was working at Curves and two ladies that were working out said to me "I bet you never had to diet a day in your life" !!!
I wish you all a happy new life!!!
Lucie
Jane,
I was just thinking that we needed to do an update! Thanks for posting the thread. Let's see, I started at 396 in 12/97 with non-adjustable banding surgery... down to 255 then up to 310 on 10/23/03 when I was revised to the RNY. Currently, I am at 177.. that's -219 total of which 133 is from the RNY. I'm comfortably in size 14's and can wear some 12's. My tummy tuck was just approved and is scheduled for 1/27. The doctor said I have about 15 lbs. of skin that should be able to be removed from my abdomen. Eventually, I will have my arms and thighs and rear done, but that will take time and $$.
Happy Holidays to all of you!
Jackie
Hi Jane!
My highest weight was over 260, but before surgery it was 259. I was wearing a size 20-22, my height is 5'5. I got down to 154 but have gained back up to 160. I got off of exercising for a while and started grazing......bad, bad me!!! So I am now doing Pilates everyday and starting back on more Protein.....hopefully I can get those pounds back off! I want a Tummy Tuck very badly.......just need to save up for the co-pay! I have 2 Tummy rolls that I try to hide with a girdle....I am so sick of wearing that bloomin girdle!!! I do love my life now and I am so glad I had this surgery! Keep us posted on those Tummy Tucks! I will be curious to know all about them!!!

Wow.
I started at 427, and am now somewhere about 240, more or less. I refuse to live by the scale.
I DO live by the Size. I have dropped from size 30 jeans to a misses size 18, and even that is a little big, but I'm not quite in a 16 yet. Being pear-shaped, I am in a size 12-14 top. The boobs were the first to go.
I walk home from work every night -- 1.5 miles. I try to hike at least 3 miles every weekend, or at least run all over the place on my errands. I am saving myself a world of nuttiness this holiday season, parking at the very fringes of mall parking lots and just walking. The exercise is good, and I don't go crazy trying to find a parking place.
As for plastic surgery, unless a miracle occurs and my HMO gets generous, it isn't going to happen. I have more elasticity than I thought, so my tummy isn't so much of a problem. My upper arms and thighs are kind of ugly, but I don't worry about it much. I'm 51; I had wrinkles BEFORE I had the surgery; and I can't justify the expense to deal with the whole package. Also, I don't WANT enhancement of those boobs. I LIKE buying smaller sizes!
All in all, this was the best decision I ever made.
Hi Jane... I am glad you posted this thread! I started at 309 on 10-13-03 and am now at 223 (last time I weighed, that is). I have been stuck for a few months at 223 but I know I need to exercise more. I have been a slow loser because of this, i think. I also wanted to lose more weight before my sister came at Christmas from Texas to visit me but I've been so busy I haven't made the time to do the exercise I need to to do it.
Everyone has done so great... i feel like a failure sometimes because I am not below 200 yet but I do feel so much better than I did before so I know I am much healthier plus I don't have to take any meds.
I just need to get my butt in gear and be determined to get the exercise. I am thinking of buying an elliptical machine for my home. I just am not doing the treadmill thing and heard that the elliptical is a better work out. My husband wants to know what makes me think I'll do the elliptical when I don't walk on the treadmill. I don't know the answer to that but I am hoping that I will.
Jane,
Merry Christmas!
My highest weight was 313, and was 294 at surgery. I once wore a size 28. I am 5' 8" (used to be 5'9").
Today I weigh 143, for a total loss of 170 lbs. I wear a size 4!
I had hernia repair and tummy tuck on Nov. 3rd. I have a very flat tummy. That surgery is much more challenging than WLS, though! I kept having problems with built up drainage fluid, and was admitted to the hospital on two occasions, and had a second (minor) surgery to remove more fluid. Tomorrow will be 7 weeks post-op, and I am finally feeling well and have no drainage "pockets".
I weigh myself nearly everyday. At the moment I am watching closely to NOT lose anymore weight. I am technically 12 lbs. below my original goal, but am still in a healthy range for my height...but should not lose more.
I am just off restrictions from TT surgery, and haven't gotten back exercising yet. I have a date with a treadmill later today, though!
Have a wonderful holiday season, my thin friends! It's been an amazing year for all of us!
Peace,
Kathy
