What's Left On Your List?

Last weekend I went to the first annual Texas Weight Loss Surgery Summit and had a great time. It was geared towards post-ops only and was chock-full of info on living after WLS, dealing with emotions, fear of regain, plastic surgery, etc, etc, etc. One session I attended was thought provoking. The speaker passed out 3x5 cards and asked us to write down any goals remaining on our list. (We all had a list of things we wanted to do after WLS, right?) Then she asked us about our goals for the future. It was amazing to see how our goals have changed. Last year we wanted little things...being able to tie our shoes, dreaming of sitting in an airline seat without an extender, wishing for a certain size or weight. Now, a year later, we've met most or all of those goals and are looking forward to BIG things. Last year I dreamed of all those little things too and had a blast as I reached every single goal over the year. (Including dropping 148 lbs.) What's on my list for the future? I want to get certified as an aerobics instructor so I can work especially with our population, teaching, motivating, and cheerleading others to their goals. As a senior citizen, I never thought I would have a career change to look forward to, especially something to do with exercise! What's left on your list? What's on your future list? Sandra, I have found myself almost obsessed with running lately. I haven't really "started" running, but whenever I walk, I have the urge to burst into a run....and sometimes do. I've been thinking of starting to run a little and perhaps set a goal to do a local 10 k next summer. It blows my mind to think I might actually do it!! I don't want to actually "set" the goal until I start running and see if I'm liking it...and if the body is going along with it. The main reason I haven't started is because I have a problem foot that needs orthotics....I don't want to mess up my foot and then not even be allowed to walk for a while! My daughter will need to be conditioning for track, so perhaps I'll condition with her...after I recover from my PS! Kathy Good luck with your goal!

I have a list of things on my profile and a couple are left: - be under 200 pounds: I'm at 201 right now!!! so close! - run 5 miles: working on it! - no more puffy ankles: I still have really bad edema in my ankles. It's all water. I feel like a camel! If I went back on perscription diuretics I would lose about 15 pounds of water (thus getting me way under that 200 mark and very close to goal) but they make my blood pressure drop dangerously low. My future list? hmm... Now that I'm in a size 12/14 I'd really like to get to a size 10, but that feels like a distant dream I want to get some PS on my arms and belly. Good luck with your goals, it sounds very inspirational! Amy

Sandra, I really enjoyed the Summit too, but girl you need a new pic! I really admire your drive. On my list of remaining goals... - Find a physcial activity that I can't live without doing; - Lose 20 more pounds; and, - Wear a size 12 that doesn't stretch!
