QOTD: How fast can you eat a ....?
Just curious about how quickly you, my peers, can eat certain foods one year out.
1. A homemade chicken or tuna salad sandwich between two slices of bread. It takes me about 15 minutes. Its those last couple of bites
2. A chicken breast - 20 minutes.
3. 6 oz steak - 30 minutes If I add a half a baked potato then it adds 15-20 minutes to the whole process.
I appreciate any input, even if I didn't list the food. Those of you who can "wolf" down a restaurant or fast food sandwich in 15 minutes I am just in awe of. I can't eat all that food at one time. I eat about half while it is hot and 30 minutes later pick it up and eat another fourth, and 15 minutes later finish the thing. So, an hour for me.

Overall I'm able to eat pretty quickly. Somethings take longer cuz they require more chewing, like steak or chicken breast.
Just for comparison sake, here's my best guesstimate:
a sandwich (I rarely eat two slices of bread..usually "open face") - probably only about 5 minutes, unless its thick then longer
steak (I probably could only eat about 4 oz.) - 20 minutes
Chicken breast (3 oz. is about it) - 10 minutes or so.
It's hard to guess really because I'm a "mixer".....one or two bites of steak, a bite of potato, bite of steak, bite of veggie, etc. I've found that "mixing" my bites seems to agree with my pouch better...with the exception of salad...then I think too much air or liquid gets in there. I worry about eating too much (I rarely get full), so my doctor has suggested just eating with the rest of the family..when they're done, I'm done. It seems to work about that way, too!

First of all, Happy anniversary!!!
I would say that it takes me 20 or more minutes to eat a steak or chicken breast. Sandwiches, I have to remind myself to slow down. Sometimes I get back to my old habits, but for the most part I have slowed down, with the help of this wonderful surgery. I agree with Kathy about mixing foods while we eat. It seems to make it easier for food to digest. Jane

I seldom ever eat bread. Guess I'm afraid of getting fat again. I am a little over a year out and I can still only eat 1/2 of an open face sandwich. If I eat a hamburger I take off the top bun and eat half.
Chicken breast - I can eat half of a chicken breast in about 15-20 minutes. Depends if I'm eating vegetables too.
Steak...I can only eat a few bites. Beef still hurts my stomach.
I worry about all the snacking I do. I like you eat half and then 30 minutes later am grazing again. Do you think it's going to make us fat again?
