What is your favorite non-alcoholic drink now that you are post-op? And while I'm on that subject... I was told by my surgeon to never drink alcohol again but so many post WLS people that I've talked to do... what were you told?

Hi Pamela, Great Name!!! I stopped drinking alcohol in my twenties after super indulging in it when I was 21. I can't stand the stuff now. My favorite drinks are Crystal Light Peach Ice Tea and Slightly Sweet Chai Tea cold over ice with a little carb countdown non-fat milk. Yummy. ~Pamela S.

I'm boring...water or decaf iced tea! I've had "flat" pop a few times, but don't enjoy it much (my doctor allows it after 6 mos. post-op) I'm allowed to drink alcohol, but was warned never to drive when drinking because I'd get drunk very quickly. I know that we have to watch the sugar content closely...things like wine coolers or daquiris will make us dump big time. I've had a couple light beers and a vodka and oj (over the past 5 months..not together!) and they did not make me sick...but they gave me a buzz real fast! I'm not much of a drinker, so this isn't a big issue with me. Interestingly, I know of someone who became an alcoholic post-op. She replaced her over indulgence of food with an over indulgence of alcohol. She said she was to the point of drinking 1/2 gallon on vodka everyday!! She said her doctor said that the malabsorption from the surgery probably saved her from killing herself! Anyway, she ended up gaining alot of weight....is now not drinking, is exercising and back following pouch rules to get the weight back off. Anyway, interesting story, I thought. Kathy

My fav is decaf americano's with sugarfree caramel, 2 splendas and 1 1/2" of cream! YUM - I can only afford one a day though! Interesting story about the post-op alcoholic. YIKES!

My favorite drink is lemonade Crystal Light. I've just tried a new drink made by Minute Maid, it's called Light Mango Tropical. It comes in a 12 oz. can and has 10 calories and only 1 gram of sugar. Boy, is it good! I think this will be my new favorite drink! I sometimes treat myself to a diet pop. Only when I go out, though. When I drink pop, it allows me to eat more, because the carbonation is stretching my pouch. So, I don't drink it very often. Pam, you forgot to tell us what your favorite drink is? Also, I tried your Sugar-free Banana Bread recipe. WOW, is it awesome!!! My husband and kids ate it up! I made 2 loaves, and they had one gone in 15 minutes. I told them that the other one was mine! They can have cakes, cookies, and ice-cream, but they chose to eat my banana bread. Thanks again for the recipe! Jane 362/207/162

My favorite is a smoothie from the Smoothie Factory- it's called "After Workout." It's very fruity. My doctor told me redwine is fine for me to drink once every blue moon, but no heavy drinking. So I drink very little and not very often.

My favorite drink is iced tea with sweet-n-low. Boring, isn't it? I try to limit it to 1 large per/day since I usually will pick-up at a drive-thru and it is not decaf. I have never been a alcohol drinker either, but have spoke with others that have said they get a fast "buzz", but it's over just as quick.

Coffee or Tea with splenda and creamer. My tummy loves warm drinks. I get cold when I drink much of a iced drink.

Okay, sorry Jane... lol. My favorite drink is hot tea sweetened with Splenda. I drink it iced too. I used to be a Diet Coke-a-holic but I gave it up when I had WLS per my dr. instructions. We have a Starbucks by our house now and I haven't been in there to see what sugar-free treats they have for me. I can't wait to go investigating. Pam
