Abdominoplasty on Thursday
Having an Abdominoplasty on Thursday. more nerves about that than when I had the bypass. I think it is because there is so much info out there that I knew what was going to happen step by step. The. T. T.. I have no clue what is going to happen.
I have never been to this hospital befor. I am going to be staying over night.
I thought I would be coming home. Anyone els had there TT yet. what was it like?
What happens before surgery when you get to the hospital?

Hi Carolyn
I haven't had mine, yet, but I know several people who have. It's another major surgery. For my friends, the surgery took from 2 to 5 hours. After our bypass surgery, the doctors used staples, but with the Tummy Tuck they sew it up nice and tight, therefore, it takes longer. Each one of my friends had 3 to 4 drainage tubes, that they went home with. They also had to wear a brace for several weeks. The one's that took 5 hours, also had hernias that needed to be repaired. They all stayed in the hospital for 3 days. At least 2 nights.
I can't wait for mine! My surgeon thinks by January, I should be ready. I've joined Contours for Women, to make sure that I've lost every pound that I need to. I have never had a flat tummy, so I'm really excited about this! Good luck on Thursday! I will be thinking about you, and I will say a Prayer for you, too. Talk to you when your tummy is flat!!! Your WL Buddy, Jane

Wow, you're having one already? I had surgery the same day as you and i'm not to goal yet and still losing. Did you stop losing weight and at goal already? If so, good for you!
Did you get your insurance to cover the procedure? I'm just in the early planning stages so inquiring minds want to know! Hope you don't mind the questions!!

Carolyn, I have read other posts that said this is more painful than our bypass but I don't know. I am just now looking into it for myself. I would like a T.T and arm lift if possible. Did your insurance cover the T.T?? I will say a prayer for you for a great surgery and speedy recovery. Let us know how you do. Blessings....
i started out at 275 LB and have gone down to 145 to 140 up and down. i have stayed there for about a month now. my goal weight is 135 i am 5' 6'' . the doc said he would be taking off about 10lbs. of skin. yuck!
i went to the plastic surgeon about 3 1/2 weeks ago. he took some PICS and wrote a letter and with in 3 days I was approved for a TT.
I have had 3 c sections and after my first baby I weighed 93 lb. and I still had hanging skiing on my belly. It now hangs down about four inches below my privets.
my insurance Aetna is paying for the hole thing. i had different insurance when i had the bypass. i had keystone health plan then. i was approved for an over night stay in the hospital. my doc said that was unusual for a TT.
as for the pain, like i said i have had three c sections. my second baby was born with rett syndrome he was like a new borne baby his hole life (he died 3 years ago 9/9/01) i had his sister 2 1/2 years after him he weighed 45 LB at that time. and the day i came home after having my c section i was picking him up and caring for him.
so if i could do that i think i will be OK with the pain.
my baby is almost 9 and my oldest is 19. and hubby well 40 going on 4.
I think everyone can help out and fen for them self's.
Well, I am off to pack for the hospital now. See you all on the flat side. Carolyn
