Okay, I've been reading and reading...Plateaus. It is my understanding if you don't lose or gain anything for more than 4-5 weeks, it's not a plateau. (which I find somewhat insulting - but oh well!) My question to you all is this - HOW MANY OF YOU HAVE BEEN ON A TRUE PLATEAU since this journey. I can honestly say, I have not. I've had a few weeks where nothin' zip zero nada. Not up, not down just the same. So in the big picture - where are ya at?

I'm on one right now and I had one in January. The one in January lasted for 2 months and this one has been for 6 weeks so far. I had to back off my walking (per dr. orders) because I was having hip-pain and I think that may have something to do with it. I wish I had a pool so I could swim. My dr. said that would be great exercise and it wouldn't put any strain on my hip. Anyway... i sure hope I get off this plateau soon! I am planning on doing a lot of swimming this week-end at a Ranch that I'm going to go stay overnight with my 2 daughters. Hopefully that will put me over the edge! Good topic! Pam

Pam, I'm sorry you got on the plateau. I know how mad two weeks makes me, I can't imagine more! I hope you have great fun on your weekend with your girlies at the ranch. I'm actually struggling with walking right now because I had warts taken off both of the bottoms of my feet two weeks ago TODAY! And just let me tell you - OUCH! I still get 5 miles in, but OMG - talk about friggin' hurt and feel on fire by the end of the day.

I had one where I didn't lose (or gain) anything for 4 weeks, but turns out that i was PG. After that I lost 14 pounds in one week. This was pretty recent, so this was a special cir****tance. now I'm losing 2-3 pounds a week again which makes me happy Amy

Thankfully I can say I haven't hit a true plateau...and hopefully am not on one right now!! My scale also has been stalled the past couple weeks, and attempts at increasing exercise or water intake have not helped, either. It's frustrating, but I also know I should be thankful for how steadily my loss has been to this point. This too, shall pass! Kathy

Based on the definition of a plateau, I have not had one. I have had a couple months where I lost very little weight but would usually make up for it the next. I usually lose weight the 2 weeks after my period then stay the same or go up a lb or 2, I have always had water retention problems. Doctor switched some of my meds and I haven't lost this month, maybe water retention. Oh well, I had hoped to be at my highest goal of 172 by my 1 year anniversary but don't know if I'll make it. Still have about 20 lbs to go.

IMHO I haven't hit a true plateau either. My cycle has gone like this from month two..... Lose 5-15# for one week then nothing for 3 weeks.... rinse and repeat. Completely weird but I don't stress. I do notice changing 2 sizes at a time. I *Just* went through my closet 2 weeks ago and took out everything that didn't fit, leaving me with 14's & 12's. Now last Monday the 14's were HUGE and I wear a 10 perfectly. WTF??? Some of the 12's fit but most are too loose.... In 1 week???? I haven't lost any weight since trying on the clothes 2 weeks ago!!! Just got off of one - finally. No weight loss or inches lost for 6 weeks. Now I've lost 5.5 pounds in 1-1/2 weeks. I was following my doctor's plan, but my body was stuck at a weight (164) that I was at a long, long time ago. Today I weighed in at 158.5. I just made sure I was getting all of my protien in and added another protein shake before bedtime. I was worried that I was done losing weight, but came to accept that I could stay this weight (164) and be happy - I was off all of the meds I took prior to surgery (7 pills) and my goal was to be healthy and I feel I have met that goal. If more pounds come off it's great, but I could stay the same and be happy - It has been a long time since I have worn 10's and 12's.
