Went to my dr....

I have been feeling a little light headed and dizzy sometimes and also can't concentrate. I flit around doing a little of everything but never seem to get anything done completely unless I have someone there pushing me. I went to my dr. last week and I told her how I'd been feeling and she asked me a few other questions and then gave me her diagnosis.... depression! Can you believe it? I asked her how could I be depressed? I've lost 81 lbs and all my co-morbidities are all but gone. But, she gave me a piece of paper and showed me all the symptoms and sure enough, I had almost every one of them. Go figure.. She said sometimes it's hard to deal with a new body image and gave me Effexor to try for a month and then I go back to see her. I just hope it doesn't have weight gain as a side-effect... that is what I'm most afraid of. If I gain weight, I'll be even more depressed! LOL I asked her about the hip-pain and the painful tailbone and she told me to back off on the walking and try some low-impact exercising such as bike riding or swimming to see if that will help. Just wondering if anyone else has taken Effexor for depression and how it worked. Thanks, Pam

I have not tryed Effexor, but I am on Lexapro. My pcp put me on it before my RNY, and it is working fine for me. The only side effect is I no longer want affection or sex. This makes it hard on my hubby. He said he would rather do with out sex all the time, than dealing with my PMS that I had twice a month. I hope this works for your depression. Michelle Pense PS Zoloft made me nuts!

I actually am on Effexor and Lexipro (and was before the surgery too) and they've done wonders for me! I really didn't have any side effects from either drug. Good luck! Barbara 256/179/140
