7 month anniversary!!!
WOOHOO - Today is my 7 month anniversary.
I got on the scale and one year ago this month when I signed up for Curves for Women I weighed 286... I lost 15 lbs in the 5 months leading up to surgery and now..... today I weigh 185.
My starting weight the day of WLS was 271.... Since surgery on 10/21/04 I've lost 86lbs.... add the 15 I lost the 5 months leading up and I'm at 101 - OH MY GOSH!!!!
I know I'm not in the century club yet, but maybe next month if I work real hard.
I'm just still amazed that I've been able to do this. I mean its a struggle every day and now that my appetite is coming back I sometimes get scared, but I am working very hard to banish my demons. When I feel a supposed hunger I take a LOT of small sips of water so that I can get full. That seems to work for me.
How is all of my fellow October 2003 patients doing? Are you happy with your results?
Peg
Peg....You are doing awsome !! .... You will be at the century club before you know it...it kinda sneeks up when you get frustrated... I was sooo ill for a while because I would loose a lb and gain 2 then down 3 it was like that for a whole month ... then BAMMMM dropped 4.5 and as of this morning down 102.5 lbs... Now I may be stuck there for the next month, but hey I know I must be doing something right I have not gained back 15 lbs as I would have before surgery.. I am pretty happy...I still try NOT to compare myself....But we all do it .... makes it a little harder at times...If I could just STAY AWAY from the scales I would be better.... I think I am an addict ...to the suckers... I read a post on the main message board about a womans hubby hidding her scales from her and I just said I am going to be next I am sure..
My hubby tells me all the time he is gonna hid them and not bring them out for a week... But that may be the best thing I need he loves me enough he does not want me to get so upset... he is wonderful
I thank God for him, this surgery, my family, and YOU GUYS !!!
Hi Peg,
You're doing awsome! Some people say to count the weight you lost pre-op toward your goal. Personally I didn't lose anything really Pre-op, so doesn't really matter. I've gone from 349 to 229, -120 pounds and from a size 26/28 to 14/16. Quality of life is so greatly improved that it's almost unbelieveable.
I just had a birthday a couple of weeks ago and I had made a little video on my computer last year to mark what I was going through waiting for surgery, how I was feeling, what I looked like etc. I watched it a year later and was shocked at how heavy I was. Pictures are one thing... but videos are very scary. Moving images... watching my fat bounce as I talked and moved... yuck.
My appetite is coming back too. I have to be very careful to not nibble and graze all day, especially on weekends. I have to make sure that if I put something in my mouth I make that one of my "meals" and eat a proper amount to get completely full and not eat again for another 3-4 hours. work is tough and I usually have the opposite problem where I don't get a chance to eat for 5-6 hours at a time. But we're making it!!
You're doing awsome Peg, keep it up! Get ready to enjoy an awesome summer with your new body!
