Just wanted to let everyone know that I have been getting b-12 shots every friday for the last couple of weeks and some of my energy is really starting to come back, I thought that something was wrong because here I have lost 90 lbs and don't feel like I even want to get out of bed some days so we did all of my bloodwork which was fine but now I take the shots and am feeling alot better. Hi Kathy, I went to the dr last week for blood work, went back today for the results. My dr. said my B-12 level was too low so I got my 1st shot. He told me to go to the health food store and get the B-12 that you put under your tongue. I too have been feeling very sluggish. I also learned something very interesting. I don't know if anyone else knows this? If you don't have the proper amount of B-12 you can develope irreversable nerve damage! I bout feel out of me chair when my Dr. told me that. Thats the last thing any of us need huh? Renita

Kathy How much are you taking on a weekly basis. My doctor basically has his people on .5cc every three months. I talked to my brother-in-law who is a physicain and he felt I should be giving my self a shot more often. Just curious. Debbie

My Dr. put me on 1.0 cc every two weeks. I am starting to feel like i need to be on it every week though. But it has helped alot.

If your B-12 has taken a nose dive, you probably should compare your past labs with your current ones and look for trends. Don't wait until you are in trouble. Doctors sometimes only look at the number and see that it is within the "normal" range so they say we are fine. They SHOULD be looking at our past couple of lab results so they can see if we are in a continuous fall. Much easier to rescue someone before they crash. I've had to argue with my surgeon who is pretty good otherwise. He said my B-12 was fine at 414 at my 3 mo. Problem was it was 800 at the 4 week checkup and I've been doing sublingual B-12 every day since surgery. He said low B-12 was under 300, and if at my 6 mo checkup it had dropped that low, he would order B-12 injections. I think that is ridiculous! Why wait until I am in a hole and then try to dig out? I've increased my sublinguals and have my 6 mo checkup next Thursday. We'll see what happens. If he won't give me the injections I'm going to find another doctor. Sandra

I think it is a good idea to get the shots. I am so anemic that I am on a very strong iron. I do take B12 sublinual...but now I realize I need to watch the B12 levels. Thanks everyone for alerting me to this! Terry
