Does anyone else have these feelings?

Stacy, I can completely relate to your post! My surgery was 10/24 and I started at 250. I am now at 179 and so close to my goal, I can taste it...LOL My weight loss has slowed down so much; at times it gets discouraging. I have to remember where I was 6 months ago and all the benefits I have gained in the past 6 months. I still haven't had any bread, rice or pasta...which hasn't been too hard. Also, diet soda has not passed my lips....prior to surgery I was a diet coke fiend. I do at times miss my old "vices' but, then I remember all the things I have gained by not giving in to the old ways. I work out daily on my treadmill and I also take a weight strengthening class once a week. I love life and love shopping maybe even more...LOL Hang in there...we are ALL winners!!! Deb 250/179/140

Stacy, I had my surgery 10/29 and at that time I was 305 lbs. I am now 227...that's a loss of 78 pounds. When I go to see my doctor he tells me I am "behind the curve". I find that very depressing. Add to that the fact that he told me it may be because I am so much older than most of his patients (I'm 53) and I was ready to cry by the time I left his office. I have tried really hard to readjust my thinking and to know that anything I lose is a victory, but its been hard for me. What I am trying to do now is to set goals that I am going to attain fairly quickly so I can boost my morale. In three pounds I will be at my lightest weight 32 years! I intend to celebrate that! Then I will set my goal at being under 200 (one that hasnt' seemed attainable in 1/4 of a century!!) I am hoping that those things will help me feel better about things. In the meantime, please be happy that you have lost 87! There are those of us who would be happy to have that

Hi Stacy, It felt so good reading your post finding out that I am not the only one who has the fear but I think I am making peace with myself. I am 6 months post-op and have lost a total of 71 lbs. My surgeon said that he is disappointed and I should have lost 80% of my excess weight by this time. I on the other hand am very happy with how much I have lost. According to the weight loss planner it looks like I am on target to lose about 100 lbs and that would be fine with me. That would be a weight that I haven't been in well over 20 years. I would love to reach my doctor's goal of 140 but if that means depriving myself and not enjoying life then wherever I stop is fine with me. Carol Beck 282/211/140?? Lap RNY 10/8/03
