Protein???
How many grams of protein are you taking in per day?---I have been averaging 80 to 100 grams per day. Is this too much? Or not enough---Please share your intake. I eat between 700 to 900 calories per day.
I also want to thank everyone on this message board for all the good responses to my previous posts. Your support means alot to me.
Thanks
Linda

Good Morning Linda, I get about 70-90 grams of protein a day. For a long time I was only getting in 60 grams then I discovered beef jerkey. This helps me tremendously with my protein in take. The days when I am dragging I usually have an extra protein shake, this helps me too. Blessings to you on your journey.

How many grams of protein you need depends on what kind of surgery you had...proximal, medial, or distal RNY. Most of us have proximal RNY's. Normal women need a MINIMUM of 60 grams of protein a day...men 80 grams. Since a portion of our surgery prevents us from digesting and consequently absorbing much from food, the guesses on how much we are actually getting each day range from 50% on down. SO, if you need at least 60 grams of protein, and you will probably malabsorb at least half of the protein from food, then you need a reliable source of protein you can count on.
I do two high quality blended whey protein shakes a day (I'm proximal at 125 cm bypassed) which gives me the 60 grams in the most absorbable form I can possibly get. Then I eat foods that usually add up to another 60 grams. I know I am getting at least the minimum protein requirement, and hopefully more.
I have fun with food and enjoy the flavors and textures but I don't count on it to give me all I must have.
