I was just wondering what type of a goal do you all have in mind? When I orginally met with my surgeon he told me that 175lbs would be a realistic goal for me to aspire to but I think I'm doing really well on the weight loss and would like to change that to maybe 150lbs. I'm 5'5", 35 years old and was 302 when I started. What do you all think? Never in my life would I have thought that 150 could be reachable. Erin 302/192

Erin, Like others, I have several goals. One is a fantasy goal (165...same as when I got married 34 yrs ago) and the other is a more realistic goal of 175. My surgeons are great and say the goal of all of us should be to get our BMI below 30. Above that, our risk of developing health issues skyrockets. I'm at 34 BMI now at 5'7" & 215 lbs, down from 49.6 when I was a pre-op 317 lbs. If I can get to 185, I'll meet my first goal of a BMI of 29. Then if I can get down to 175, cool!! If not, I'm not going to stress about it. Promise! I'm in 16 jeans now and can buy clothes anywhere I want. Who could complain? Best of all, all my co-morbidities are gone, I'm alive and HEALTHY! Erin, I too had many goals. The most recent one I accomplished was to be 179 when I went to Disney World on 3/18. Now it's to be at the Dr.s goal weight of 150. My personal goal is 143. I'm not too far away!

My weight goal is 200lbs that'll make me 6ft tall 200lbs. I also have other goals like fitting into a booth and being able to sit there comfortably. Going to a movie and sitting in a chair without making permenant side rail impression on my thighs. Fitting between the pews at my church. Being able to BE with my wife and she is still able to breath. To be below 300lbs. To be able to leave some food on my plate and honestly say nahhh no more I am not hungry thank you. (and mean it) To tie my shoes like normal folks on the top not on the side and not make the wife/kids do it for me. To do my job as an RN and not feel like snatching the oxygen from the patient and woofing it down for me. I could go on but this board does have finite place for posts...I have achieved several of these goals and am moving towards the others. I also find I come up with new goals as well... Erin, Hello, I was 276 pounds when I had my surgery and I am now 200 pounds after 5 months. My short-term goal is 175 and I am 25 pounds from this goal. (whoo hoooo!!). My mid-point goal is 150 (lower than what my doctor has set for me). My doctor set my long-term goal at 155. I have personally set my long-term goal for 135 or 140. My reasoning for setting it a little lower is due to the fact that I have heard from so many people that there is a good chance one can put up to 50 pounds back on after all the hard work. I just want to be prepared in case this should happen to me. Sincerely, Cherry 276/200

Hi, My goal is to beat my surgeons goal of 195. I don't know why he said such a high number. I would love to get to 160 and then get all this extra skin cut out. Teri 306/216

My goal is to be a size 12 bottom and 10 top. I hope it fits my weight goal of 150 lbs. I am at 183 now. I won't be disappointed if I just make it to the 150s though.
