What about the Pill?

Hi Everyone! I am having trouble with my period. I've always had issues with spotting/bleeding, so I've been on the pill for years. I had to go off last August to prep for surgery in October. Everything was going fine until this month! I got my period March 7-11, and was on schedule. Then, I started spotting on March 15th, and haven't quit! Some days are heavier than others. This morning I awoke and was soaked through, even a big spot on my bed! (sorry if this is too much info... but we're all "sistahs") Anyway, I want to go back on the pill to get this under control AND for ease of birth control. I'm 44 years old, and I don't smoke. My blood pressure is controlled and my diabetes is gone, thanks to WLS! Is it okay for me to go back to the pill? Will it slow down my weight loss??? Oh, and the most important thing: I've lost 98 lbs! Not long now 'til 100 lbs! Hopefully next week... I'll be posting then for sure! I started at a BMI of 53. Surgery date was 10-13-03. Love and blessings to all of you-- you are the most courageous and hopeful people in the world as far as I'm concerned!

Happy Sunday to all! Yes, it's me replying to my own post. I realize I was perhaps remiss in asking questions that require medical advice, and for that I apologize. I will call my doctor tomorrow! However, I did go to the "Library" section of this site and found some answers. I am discovering this site gets better and better all the time! Thanks for listening...

Congratulations on the weight loss so far!! I was a BMI of 51 when I started and now my scale says it's 31.9. Wow! Now back to the pill, I'm not taking the pill. I'm using the patch and I don't think it has slowed down the weight loss since I have lost 110 lbs so far. My doctor did tell me after I started the patch that it was only recommended for people under 200lbs but luckily I didn't have a problem. Good of her to tell me. I was given the okay to take oral medications again by my doctor when I waas in the hospital last week for my hernia surgery so I would think a little thing like a pill would be easy for you to take. I can only speak of how I reacted to the Pill when I was Pre-Op. I didn't do too well with it. I gained weight and was miserable. I tried NUMEROUS things for birth control and my favorite one (one I stuck with the longest) was an IUD. I had regular periods and they were SHORT! However, they did flow HEAVY the second day. They only lasted 4 at the most though.
