Hi everyone, Could someone PLEASE help me?? I had the Open RNY October 17, 2003 and have done beautifully until about a month ago. I RARELY got sick and rarely had dumping at all. I was able to eat just about anything I wanted (just not much of it of course) and then all of a sudden, every time I eat I get EXTREMELY nauseous...to the point of being able to do nothing but cry and moan and then fall asleep, but I don't actually throw up or have diareah...? What is going on?? I was put on Iron tablets and I know they make a lot of people sick so I stopped them, and I had been eating a bit more carbs than I was supposed to so I stopped that and it hasn't changed anything. I can't go on like this... has this happened to anyone else before??? Thank you all for your time. Jennifer Jenkins

You're not alone. I have to watch sugar very carefully. Also, anything beef, greasy, or anything that makes me gassy. I had surgery October 28th, and began having nausea issues immediately. I found out, in January, that it had been due to some medicine that I was taking. We got that straight, then I was ok. I don't have many things that I can't eat, including sugary foods, darn it. But the ones I listed still make me nauseated. Good luck. It's worth it. You're never alone. I have found that out myself.

Hello Jennifer! I'm about 5 months out, too, and have had some nausea of late. Like you, I had no dumping, nausea, nothing I couldn't eat after surgery. (I have not eaten anything sugary) I made myself "back up" a bit. I became more mindful of my chewing, how fast I was eating, and I started measuring again. I still record everything I eat and how I feel after eating. I have figured out that at this point I can't eat leftovers very easily... I don't know why-- it seems so stupid! Fried chicken, even without the batter coating, makes me nauseous. You'd think I'd know these things right off the bat, but writing it all down makes it crystal clear. I encourage you to call your physician if this continues for more than a few days... I hope this situation resolves itself for you, soon!

Hi Jennifer, I know just how you feel. What makes me sick is foods with high sugar and fat or anything that is high in carbs. It's weird because I dont actually dump, instead I get extremely lethargic where I just want to lay down and sleep. After a few minutes, the most 1/2 hr, I feel alot better. Another thing that happens right after is that I thirst really bad for water. Lately it seems like my pouch has gotten smaller, I cant take in as much food. I've only dumped once since surgery and that was a few weeks ago when I had some bannana chips. I didnt eat very much but just as they went down, they came back up. Go figure!
