I feel like my loss has stopped. I know it hasn't though. My surgeon said this would happen, but I still don't like it. I just have to remember that I feel good and even if I stopped here I'm better off than I was 5 months ago. Karen RNY 10/24/04 256/185 - 71 lbls. size 22 - size 16

I read somewhere that after surgery when you get to a weight that you were at for a long period of time before surgery, your body will think that's where it should be and will stay at a plateau for a while. I was at 300 +/- a couple of pounds for over a month. Now before surgery a few years ago I was around 300 for close to 10 years. But then once the scales decided to move they have been doing really good until this week --I sure hope this doesn't mean another plateau, because I really want to get to 262 by 4/22 my 6 mo anniversary but I don't think I am going to make it now. Makes sense Marilyn, I was at this weight 5 yrs ago for a while. I was hoping to hit the century mark by April 24 (6 month anniversary) but I dont think it's going to happen. That's about 20 lbs. away and I dont think I'll loose that much in a month. Well maybe if I get to that gym more often. We'll see when the scale starts moving again. Thank you all for the comments! I have slowed down to about 10-15 pounds a month at this point. I approached my dr and she said it was good. That the plateau is to give our bodys time to catch up with our weight loss. she said it keeps the skin from sagging so bad when we slow and reach plateaus. I am also very frustrated when it happens, and it does. But I try to remember that slow is still losing. I have heard it so many times it makes me crazy, but it is true.......We did not gain it all in a day. We can't expect it to come off in a day. Patience, my friends. We are all going to be knockouts VERY SOON.......

You are not alone... I turned 5 months on 3/20/04 and all I lost was 3 pounds in one month. I was very saddened by it, but hey, I have gone from a size 22-24 to a size 14!!!!! I talked to my doctor about the plateau and she says that the body does plateau from time to time in order to readjust itself. Hang in there you'll do fine. Cherry 276/207 (-69 pounds lost)

Oh how happy I'am to have found this I have been on a plateau for about 4-5 weeks, well I can't say that long I will loss a lb or 2 then go between them for about a week or 2 then down again. I have lost only 4 lbs in the past 4 weeks and I'm used to doing any where from 10 - 15 in a month. It has been very discuraging I thought it had stopped and I was doing something wrong. This isn't going to sound right but I'm glade you guys are all having the same trouble at the same time, because I know it's not me and I didn't do anything wrong. I wish you all the best and I bet we will all be writting back saying it finally started up again around the same time.
