Hello I'm new here
Hi Rikka and welcome to the board. I too just recently found this board. You are doing Super, congrats to you My weight loss is slow but steady I am ok with it at times and then other times I am dissappointed, but I keep reminding myself that I would have never loss this weight without surgery.

Hello Rikka, Welcome to the Oct. surgery board. We are surgery date twins. I weigh in at my highest of 317 and as of 3/2/04 was 208. I only weigh myself on my monthly anniversary. Otherwise I would go nuts. I am loving every minute of my journey. I wish I wouldn't have to loose so much hair. But it is a small price to pay for this wonderful gift. Many blessings to you on your journey.
Hi Rikka,
Glad to meet another October girl. My open RNY was Oct 17th and has been such a great success. I was 317 at (5"7", 55 yrs old) and now I'm 217. 100 lbs...yeah! All my co-morbidities are gone which is even better. I used a cane until a few months ago...now I can run! It's been easy because I pay such close attention to my diet and exercise...not that the exercise is easy but sticking to my nutrition and exercise plan is easy. I made up my mind I wasn't going to cheat and would be the most educated post-op in RNY history, hehe. It has paid off because I've had smooth sailing. Never had a single problem with food, water, protein suppliments, vitamins, etc. Never went through the hibernation syndrome, never have lost a single hair, and weight loss has been steady...no plateaus. My surgeons are great cutters, but not as educated on nutrition and vitamin/mineral suppliments as I'd like, though they are better than most. So I have learned on my own through contact with long-time post-ops who have been highly successful. Life is grand!
Welcome,
Sandra
