March 04 Roll Call
Hello October Siblings...
I am on the plateau with several of you and can't see an end yet. I have lost a total of 54 pounds since surgery on 13 Oct. I have lost 65 in all. I now weigh 168 and fit into a snug size 12.
I have only lost 3 pounds since 2/16 and am feeling the pressure to get on the protein train and to the track for exercise to jump start this thing again. At least I will not be "quitting" the diet as in the past. I have found, you can't quit WLS. It wont let you.
I feel so much better now that I am less. I can play and work with ease... NO pain. This is a blessing that only WLS patients can understand.
I feel the need to exercise and get this skin to tone back up or I will never get into a swimsuit this summer (in public that is, DH has secret plans... more when I figure it out...LOL). Any suggestions on the skin toning???
I have been on this fruit kick for about 1 week now... Can you say Fresh PINEAPPLE and ohhhhh ... Just love those strawberries from Plant City, FL... Mmmm.... Do ya'll think they are the culprits in my plateau? I have eaten about 1/2 carton (7-9 berries) per day this week.
I don't know... just thinking about what I can do to get back in the loosing mode. I still have 40+ pounds that I need to lose to get to goal.
Take care and happy loosing to all.

Hello everyone ... NEWBIE HERE!!! I can not believe that I have not found this board earlier!!!
My surgery was Oct 29, 2003 and I too am on a MAJOR PLATEAU !!! Can we say frustrating? Although it is really good to read that others are going through the same thing which helps to relieve my mind that I may be doing something wrong. Guess I just need to relax about it and continue plugging on!
Continued success to all of you ... you are doing wonderfully!
Hugs,
Tammy

Hello October Buddies.
I've lost 77 total pounds. My start and highest weight was 367. I was
362 on surgery date. 4 months and 1 week post -op. As of last saturday I'm at 285.
I still have a long way to go to get to my goal but as long as the the lbs keep coming
off I'm happy and I have nothing but time now to lose it so 2 - 5 lbs a week is ok with me. I've started losing hair
more noticable now than before. I can eat just about anything but I'm trying
to keep it to the healthy low- fat. low carb, high protien diet. I walk about
1 mile a day on the treadmil and as much as I can around the office during the
the day at work. Feeling great. I have not ventured into the stores to buy new
clothes yet. But I can feel the old ones fitting so very loosely. Spring time is
here now.. what a great time to go shopping for new spring clothes.
Congratulations to everyone's success!
Keep up the great work

I was 5 months post op yesterday and have lost a total of 63.5 lbs so far. I guess I feel I am losing slow but the inches seem to be coming off. I have gone down about 7 sizes in jeans (depends on the brand). I do 45 minutes at Curves at least 3 times a week and have been walking too. I can't believe exercise if fun!

Down 86 pounds since Halloween week! I am at 184 and am still considered severly overweight which is so hard for me to believe. I feel so much healthier now then I ever did as a size 7 or 5 in my youth. I try not to concentrate on what the scale says though. I weigh once a week just to make sure I'm not gaining. Isnt' that strange - I'm afraid I'll gain it all back or the tool will quit working
It has been so fun to wear xl tops and 14 pants. Actually I will be ordering my first size of 12s from oldnavy.com pretty soon. My 14s I bought just 3 weeks ago are already getting a little big. Aren't we at a fun stage in our journey?!
My husband has been loven' the new me. I told him, "I'm still the same person, just smaller." He disagreed and said I am smaller but I'm much happier.
WOW we are blessed!
Good Morning!! I really love these roll calls. Let's see. Where do I start? Well, first.. I feel grrrrrrrreeeeeeeat. I still haven't thrown up since surgery. My hair loss is minimal. I have gone from a 32 (with lycra) to a 22 (no lycra jean) and I can even squeeze (literally) into a 20 jean. My weight loss is interesting. It started out slow, but has been gradually moving. I'm working out at the gym about 3 classes per week and walking on my off days from the gym. On Suday, I'm doing a 5K (walking). On April 17th... A 10K and on June 13th a triathalon (1/2 mile swim, 12 mile bike and 3 mile walk/run). I teach junior high and even the students are starting to ask me about my weight loss.... that's weird for 13-15 year olds to notice anything but themselves! My husband has always been supportive, but lately... he has been more AWESOME than ever.
Ok, so here's the deal...
1997 - banding 396 to 255
10/2003 - revision to RNY 310 to 238.5
So, I've lost 157.5 total --- 71.5 since October
Well I am down 79 pounds and so happy. I was going through a slow time for a couple of weeks then I went to the gym a little more and drank more water and it started coming off again. I have gone from a size 28-30 to a 16 at the Avenue store I am sure if I go to K-Mart or something like that I would be a 18 but that is still OK I am happy about it.
Life is good!!!...
Hi, I had my surgeryon 10/23 and have lost about 57 pounds so far (269 to 212). Gone from a 22W pants and 2-3X tops to size 16 regular pants and XL tops. The last time I lost weight (in 1998) I got down to 175 pounds and was wearing a size 12 - so that is my goal this time - only this time after WLS, I do not anticipate gaining it back. Anyway, I have been gradually getting back into the clothes that I kept from 1998 and it has been great. But this morning was the best. I have a size 12 Eddie Bauer jean skirt that buttons and zips up like jeans (no rubber in the waist or anything). Anyway, I put it on this morning to gauge my weight loss and I could actually button it and zip it up. Now it was very, very tight and I don't think I would actually wear it anywhere right now (though I have seen people on the street in skin tight clothes) but I was so glad to be able to get it on. My goal was to wear it for my birthday which is May 12 - I think I am on track for that.
My hair is falling out in droves, but I have read on the board about some products that may work so I am going to buy them this weekend. One of my main problems is that I don't exercise because of my hectic schedule. Now that it is warm, my daughter will begin going back to swimming every night and while she is in the pool, I will be exercing in another part of the complex. Hopefully, that will jump start the pounds coming off again for the Spring.
Anyway, enough of that. I have been on a couple of really rough plateaus - one that lasted from Thanksgiving to after New Years. I try not to get discouraged, especially now since everyone is starting to comment on how good I am looking - but I really am a slave to the scale. I weigh every morning at 6:00 a.m. (okay, okay, I know I am obsessed), so every little fluctuation I see. I really am trying to get myself into weighing once a week - I will keep you posted on my success.
So, to all of us, I say a job well done and I look forward to all of us continuing on this journey toward our goals.
Hi Tanya,
Congrats on the weight loss and I have not worked out much myself, but I have really been watching what and when I eat. I also now when I know I have eaten enough I just throw the food away or put salt in it or water, because sometimes those old habbits come back of eating when you know you are threw, so I just get rid of it so I do not nibble on it.
