I want the truth from you all.....
want the truth from you all..How many of POST Ops take their vitamins religously? I tend to take all my vitamins 1x a week. I started in the beginning to take everyday, but find when I do take my vitamins I feel crappy!!!! It hurts my stomach... no matter what way I tried.
Also, I was told to eat every 2 1/2 hrs because I was not getting my calories in and did not want to eat.I am doing about 750 calories Dr would like me at 1000. Well now all I do is want to eat, so what do I do? I fill like I am pigging out...
I have not lost any weight in 2 wks and just trying to figure this out and I am approaching my 4 months.... is working on me....lol
The positive thing today I was able to do a sweet protien drink this am for the first time and drank it in 25 mins..
Are we supposed to be losing like a pound a week to 2 pounds a week???
Thanks all for being honest... and listening....

Stuck......
Hi Ann~
I religiously take my vitamins each and every day. I am use to taking pills every morning because of my diabetes so I just continue with this every day! I take many vitamins to just try and keep ahead of the hair loss, etc---I take Vit C & E, Zinc, Flax Oil (both for potential hair loss) calcium citrate, 2 Flinstone vitamins, B12, Lysine (prevent cold sores), 1 aspirin & my 1/2 pill a day for diabetes. So, needless to say, that takes me a while to get them all down in the morning but it is also a great way to get some of the 64oz of water in as well.
Looks like you and I had surgery the same day! I've been struggling with the weight loss. I hit many plateaus along the way so it can get me down and depressed but then things pick up again & life is good...go figure. I sometimes struggle to get in all my protein so I'm really trying to concentrate on getting that in each day. I joined Curves 3 weeks ago and already can tell great results in the inches going away ALL OVER!
Well, happy anniversary on Friday & I will keep watching for you on the website! All the Best!

Ann, Feb 20 will be my 4 month post op and every day I take my required meds, tums, and vitamins without any problems. When I think about the many other pills that distracted my lifestyle before, these few requirements are necessary for a better tomorrow. As far as calories, I don't really watch them; every doctor is different, mine wants me to concentrate on getting all my proteins in before carbs. I eat my proteins first and try to limit my carbs to two per day (like a 1/4 cup of potato and a small bowl of cereal). I find it difficult to eat a regular sandwich, so usually I just make a salad with added protein like tuna, crabmeat etc. I have had the new Subway wraps. They are good. Weight loss for me has been good. I have already gone beyond the 100lb mark, I'm averaging roughly five pounds per week but you may lose less (they say women tend to lose weight slower than men, sorry). Hope this helps you in any way. Best of luck to you. Bill
Man, was I glad to hear from you. I am horrible about my meds. I don't count calories or protien. I know that I eat right and most meals only protien. I take a children's chewable vitamine about every other day. Other than that, maybe once a week or so I take an iron pill. I am suposed to take Actigal so I won't have to have my gull bladder taken out. I hate that pill. I had my blood taken last week and haven't heard anything, so everything must be ok. I feel great, but am loosing my hair. Karen
ALRIGHTY NOW. IM GLAD IM NOT ALONE. I HATE TAKING THOSE PILLS. I DONT KNOW WHY. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS JUST SWALLOW THEM, BUT IT SEEMS LIKE THE HARDEST THING IN THE WORLD TO DO. I PROMISE MYSELF, ID DO BETTER. IM 4 MONTHS OUT MYSELF, I LOSE ABOUT 10 -12 LBS A MONTH. JUST HAND IN THERE AND THINGS WILL GET BETTER
WHEW!!! I thought I was the only bad one not taking my vitamins on a daily basis. I try too though. The only vitamins I take are Calcium chews (cherry flavor, very yummy) and B12 both from GNC. I might take these 3 days out of the week (when I remember) Im really bad on that protein. I dont drink any at all but I try to supliment w/ other high protein foods. I've also almost comletely eliminated all carbs. I might do a little here and there once a week or so, but hardly any. So far my hair has not fallen out and my nails are really strong. As of today, I am down 67 lbs. Im averaging about 2-3 lbs. a week. Every week I say to myself, this week I'll do better and it doesnt happen. Best of luck to you and thanks for the post.

I have taken vitamins maybe 4 different times since surgery. My doctor chews me out about it, but the after taste makes me sick. I also have not taken any asthma meds since surgery and I'm suppose to be taking a thyroid, but that doesnt happen very often. The only thing I do good is I drink a hot choc with a scoop of protein in it every morning. My labs on 1/22 all came back good so she did not even add the B12. I did have a thyroid a few weeks ago and it showed I should be taking my pill. As for wt, I'm at a horrid plateau that wont budge.

I take mine religously! At first I was having a hard time, and also was "guesssing" on my protein and water. Then I decided I better buckle down and get serious about this! I had made the commitment to do this right, so now's the time. I also don't want to risk having problems further down the line because I didn't following the rules now. Anyway, I keep a daily "diary" that lists each of my vitamins (I check them off once I've taken them), type and length of exercise, protein grams, ounces of water drank, and what foods I ate. I also record my weight on the days I weigh. Anyway, it has really helped me stay focused and be honest with myself. There have been a couple days when I really needed to have another protein drink before bed, but was too tired...but 99% of the time I get it all in. I'm REALLY trying to teach myself self-discipline. It's a new thing for me! I lose 12 - 16 lbs. per month nowadays and I'm down 74 lbs. so far!
Good Luck!
Kathy
OK Well let's start off with the vitamins. I do take them everyday but in the beginning I had a hard time with pills SO I took chew ones, and there is a liquid b-12 at GNC. Try them and see what happens. As far as coming up on 4 months and not really losing I went through a time when that happened to me I was even going to the gym however it passed and now I am doing 5 pounds a week but I am making sure I drink 80 ozs of water a day. That is when I loss the weight.
I really do not get 1000 calories a day I am more about what you get but that is also because I do drink a lot of water so I really do not have the room.
I hope I help some if not I am sorry Just remember keep trying. This was the best gift we could of gave ourselves.
Hi Ann
I do take my vitamins religiously. I am taking 2 Flinstones a day, plus biotin and my calcium. I also take flax seed oil a couple of times per week. I added this because I started to have problems with an itchy scalp and the doctor said I needed more 'fat' in my diet. In terms of how much I am eating... about 750 calories per day... give or take. I am losing anywhere from 2-3 pounds per week. A little slower than most, but for me 10-12 pounds per month is a wondeful thing I also do try and get in all my protein. I do this mainly by having a protein drink in the morning and one at night. My biggest problem right now is exercise. I have just not had time to go. I joined Curves last week but have not gone yet because of long hours at work... Hopefully next week. Do not worry about the plateau. Like all of you I have had a couple where I have gone a couple of weeks and nothing... so hang in there it will strat to drop again. Good Luck!
