Hello all...it is so nice that you did this Tanya. I like to read to see how others are doing. I had my surgery on October 20th and to date (January 20th) I have lost 44 lbs. I go to the gym three nights a week and work on my stationary bike when I can. I also see the weight loss in my rings and in my clothes. It is a wonderful feeling. I do have trouble with some foods, but I am working through that. So what if I can't eat bread, pasta and all that fatening stuff...those are the foods that got me in the state I was in...so I can do without them and it doesn't even bother me. I think the one of the best things about all this is having support from friends and family. I have so much support that it makes the not being able to go "potty" at times bearable...and the not being able to eat the pastas in the sauces and the garlic bread even bearable. So I want to wish you all the best of luck on your journey to the thinner side of the world....I will be looking for you!!!

Pam from Michigan here. This is my first post. I've been reading for several days now and decided I should go ahead and post. I had Open RNY 10-23-03 and have lost 54 lbs. Well, make that 53, when I weighed on Monday, I had gained a pound. I can't figure that one out but I decided to up my water intake and cut out all carbs which there weren't many to start with. I know I can't get worked up about 1 lb. but it does make me wonder and kind of scares me. I only throw up about 3-4 times per week now and I think most of that is because I am still adding new foods and some of them aren't agreeing with me, like shrimp and raw vegetables. I did get some clothes from a local clothing exchange last week and that is sure helping, most of my clothes are really baggy because when I was 54 lbs heavier, i bought extra big clothes so nobody would see my fat body underneath. Okay, I guess I wrote a book so I'll stop now.. Take care everyone.

Hello everyone. Today is my 3 month annivesary. I had a LAP RNY on 10/23/03. I have lost 46 pounds so far (from 269 to 223) and am feeling great. People are starting to notice the weight loss, especially in my face. I can eat almost anything and have only been sick three times (once on some cream of crab soup, once on a protein drink and once on three bites of an oreo cookie cream pie). Okay, the last one I deserved. Anyway, behavior modification is a good thing, and I just avoid the foods that I feel will make me sick - which is not much. While I can eat almost anything - I don't each much at any one time. My 7 year old daughter thinks it is funny that mommy eats less than she does. Just this weekend, my hair has started falling out. I am not too happy cause I have thin hair to begin with but that is a small price to pay. I have not been excercising regularly due to time constraints - or just plain laziness, I guess. However, I put my daughter on the swim team at a major sports complex near my house, so while she is swimming an hour and a half 4 days a week, I will be exercising. I saw a spinning class that I think I want to try. Anyway, I am proud of all of you and it makes me feel good to read about your triumphs.

Hi All ! I had my surgery October 30, 2003 and so far no problems. I have lost a total of 65 lbs and just joined the local YMCA and am doing the water aerobics and they have a new 12 week program that they started where they take all your measurements each week or month, weigh you, and give you a person trainer to set up a program to work on and meet with the trainer at the end of each week. The machines there also remember your last work out too. I sometimes feel like I am eating all the time but I must be doing okay. I am working on the water issue. So far so good. It looks like everyone is doing a great job!!!! CONGRATS ALL!

Hi everyone. I had my surgery 10/08/03 I'm a 46 year old wife and mother, I've lost 68 pounds since surgery. I walk 1 mile every morning and 1 mile in the evening. I've gone from a 26/28-30/32 to a 18/20. I feel great!! only had a few eating issues, I've never dumped, But then I've never pushed it either. I've had a few friends tell me about their dumping, and I want NO part of it. I've met some of the nicest, sweetest people who have this common bond of gastic bypass surgery. I would not change it for the world!!!!

Hi and congratulations all!! I had my Lap RNY on 10/16/03 and I lost a total of 54lb since the surgery. I'm finally feeling better; the first 2 months were difficult. I can't say I'm brave enough to try "new food"; I'm sticking to the recommendation of the nutritionist (lean protein, fruit and cooked vegetables until month 4). I still have the fear of "re-gaining", after yo-yoing for years and I don't want to go through this again. I still have 46lb to go, so let's see where I'm at the next roll call. Hi everyone, I am so glad to hear your updates. Just had to let you all know that today is my three month anniversary. I weigh 54 lbs. lighter. I fill wonderful most of the time. People have started noticing my loss, and that sure is a great filling. My clothes are starting to really get baggie on me (yeah!) but the elastic is keeping them up for now. I'm able to sit in a normal size chair with out filling like I'm going to break the chair. My skin is clear for the first time in years,(I'm not eating all that junk that I use to). My biggest problem is that I still have problems eating too fast. I have gotten a lot better at it though, I haven't thown up for a month. I take my vitiams like I should, but don't drink my protien, all the time, like I should, my hair hasn't fell out, I bet I will be good at it if it starts. I have regreted my decision about 2 hrs. out of the last 3 months. For the most part I am very very happy that things have worked out the way they did. Hope everyone else has mostly good things happening. By the way I love this site. You are right Tanya, Life is good! Thank you all for being there. Susan

Hello All, I am a little slow in getting to the roll call this month (been busy with all my newly found energy!). I was 3 months out on 1/23 and I've lost 53 pounds to date. My weight loss is erratic. Some weeks it's 1 lb. Some weeks it 5 lbs. I do the same thing everyday so, I don't know what the difference is. I'm just happy for the loss. I haven't thrown up at all and I've had no complications. In the beginning, I dumped on potatoes (twice) so, I haven't tried them since. I've dumped on sugar free candy 1 time... so, I haven't eaten that stuff again. I haven't tried anything with more than 3 g of sugar of it for fear of dumping. I am able to eat my protein and I drink about 90 oz of liquid a day. I'm doing weight lifting classes 3 to 4 times a week at the gym. I'm down from a 30-32 to a 20-22. Jackie -53 :jumping:
