Hi Everyone, I had Lap RNY on 10/8/03 and have lost 51 lbs since then and an additional 7 lbs since consult on 8/18/03 for a total of 58 lbs lost!! I WILL join Curves tomorrow!! I keep putting it off, either the holidays were too busy (I did get exercise by parking as far from the store door as possible when shopping) or I wasn't feeling well (took iron and Synthroid together and neither was working, then got a head cold). I have only vomited once and that was because I took my iron after eating breakfast. I can eat anything I want, don't seem to want everything I used to like anymore. I am down 4 jean sizes and 4 bra band sizes and 1 cup size. I still wear my baggy sweaters but some are too baggy and are getting retired. It's like Christmas everytime I find a sweater in my closet that was too small and now fits. I actually had to by a new winter coat, old one just hung and my hands didn't stick out anymore. I guess I am a slow loser but sometimes it just seems too easy to be true. I told someone that if I didn't have surgery, I would be very happy at my present weight. Of course I want to go as low as I can go and would love to meet my goal of 140 but anything is good! Carol Beck

Hello everyone! I have lost 51 pounds so far. Had Open VBG on 10.28.03. Feel excellent. I have TONS of energy. I can walk over 1 mile at a time now. Used to have a hard time walking to the car. Can shop for hours (ha ha) (I think that's a good thing -- right?) Still not able to tolerate really "dense" or "heavy" foods. Exercise 3 x per week and LOVING IT! Hello again everyone! I am happy to see how well everyone is doing! As for me, I have lost 45 lbs (am not quite 3 mos. out). This seems slow compared to most of you, but I will take it anyway . I exercise about twice a week and am trying to increase that. I feel great, can eat anything, including sugar, and only vomit when I eat too fast. I get in 1 or 2 protein drinks a day, and take my vitamins and omega3 fish oil and calcium faithfully. I don't know if I will need B12 shots, I seem to have enough energy, so maybe not. No hair loss yet, I am hoping it won't happen since I haven't had any problems with eating. I did consult with a behaviorist (I am going to see her once a month) because I am snacking too much and don't have the dumping deterrant that I was counting on to keep me with the program. Despite the relatively slow weight loss, I am happy I took this step and look forward to the future with great optimism.

I am glad to see everyone is doing so GREAT!!! CONGRATS TO ALL!! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!! I had surgery Oct. 29th and I am down from 350 to 275, 75lbs loss and 31 1/2 inches gone forever. From a size 30/32 pants to a size 20/22 and 3X/4X tops to 18/20 or reg. XL. I have alot of energy and feel wonderful. I walk about 8 hours a week (don't know how many miles I dont walk very fast) Most of my joint pain is totally gone. I have no problems with any food only that I don't like nearly what I used to. I don't take protein shakes but I get plenty of protein with the foods that I eat. I give myself B-12 shots once a month and take all my vitamins everyday (sometimes I forget oopps). I am so thankful that I was able to have this surgery. Now I am on a mission to help a friend whom I know would bennifit from this surgery. His loosing weight is a life or death situation and I am putting forth all my efforts to help him see that. He has lost everything and he is left with his terrible health and a 7 month old baby. Any prayers are greatful. All of you are in my thoughts and prayers keep up the good work and GOD BLESS!! Sabrina

I am so glad to see the post. I was told that there was no way I was going to keep up with the people that had the full gastric bypass since I only had the gastric sleeve. I am three months out and down 60 pounds. It looks like I am keeping up with everybody else. I exercise every day riding my stationary bike 8 miles a day. Sometimes I do take the weekends off. I will be seeing my surgeon next week to see if he will now do the bypass on me. I am very high risk and he wouldn't do it at first because I wouldn't survive. I am totally off my insuline which I was taking over 400 units a day. I am also off of the Prednisone. I am still on all of my other meds and my oxygen use is still the same, 3 liters all the time. My CPAP pressures have come down from 10 to 6. I am very proud of myself.

Hello to All: No worries to report this issue.. I'm down 60 pounds using the lapband feeling a bit better each and every day. I feel the light at the end of my tunnel and am basking in it's warm embrace every day. I joined the YMCA and am able to get there 5 days a week. I do still get some soreness in my back if I overdo it but it quickly subsides. ALL in all.. I feel 100% better than I ever had in over 25 years. Don

Hi everyone. I had surgery on October 1st and I am down 66 pounds. I tolerate almost everything so far - turkey or dry things arent' pretty though!! I stay away from sugar, caffeine and carbonation. I mostly eat protein, limit carbs and fat. I ususally drink 1 protein drink a day to supplement my protein. I'm ashamed to say I'm not on a bonifide exercise program - it'**** and miss right now. I need to get diciplined with exercise. I feel GREAT - My 3 month blood work came back all normal - I am losing hair though. I hate that since I already have thin, baby-fine hair. Hope it stops soon. I'm down from a 4x to a 2x, 28 dress to a 22 and 18/20 jeans. Even my rings and shoes are getting big!! All is well. Good luck to all of you!! Stacy McClain 310/244/140 goal proximal RNY 10-1-03

Sounds like everyone is doing great. I had my surgery 10/2/03 in Tampa. Went back for my 3 month post-op and had lost 60 lbs. Another 7 since then. Isn't it great? I'm 57 yrs old and had thought that my years of even yo-yo losing was over! I am exercising 3 X a week at a gym (only for people over 40!) and actually loving it. Can't believe the difference a few months has made in my life.

Hi everyone! Keep up the good work! I had surgery on Oct. 16th. I am down 67 lbs. (55 since surgery) I feel great, my energy level is high. My plantar fasciatis doesn't bother me anymore at all. I have just started losing hair in the past week or so...hoping it doesn't get too carried away! I still have never been sick...but came close when I ate too fast one morning. Getting my exercise in is still my biggest hurdle, but I keep working at it! See you next month! Happy losing! Kathy
