Hello everyone, I had surgery on 10/20/03 and my 3 month anniversary is approaching. So far I have lost 53 pounds, 16 inches and I feel great! I have not started losing any hair just yet. (thank God!) I'm working out five days a week, so I guess it's paying off. As for eating, I find that after being on protein shakes and yogurt for the first six weeks, I ABSOLUTLY HAT PROTEIN SHAKES AND YOGURT!!!!! Because of this I really don't like to eat breakfast. However, I do force myself to eat breakfast. All in all, I can truly say that no matter what- HAVING THIS SURGERY WAS THE BEST DECISION I EVER MADE. Take care and God bless, Cherry RNY- 276/223

Hi everyone, Thanks Tanya for the roll call, it is always great to see where everyone is at and compare notes, good or bad. I have lost 61lbs since 10-02-03 and 30 lbs prior to surgery so my grand total is 91 lbs. I am so amazed at my progress. I am no longer diabetic. My PCP took me off all meds 1 month ago. I am so thankful. I went from a size 24 to size 14-16, I don't remember the last time I was a 14, I think I was 14 years old. I excercise daily 45 minutes on my eliptical trainer and walk every other day 3.5 miles. I am so thankful to have had another chance at a healthier and happier life. Blessings to all of you on your journey~

I had my surgery on 10-21-03. I have lost 66 lbs. I have a hard time eating what I am supposed to. I try very hard to drink the water I am supposed to. I throw up a lot. I have just about decided that it isn't worth the hassle to eat. Nothing tastes good. I will be going for my first check up Thursday. Maybe I will find out why I can't eat what I am supposed to (the amount). I can really tell by my clothes that I have lost. I have gone down 2 sizes so far and eveyone says I look great. I have been tired but I'm sure its because I don't eat that much. I am off all the medications that I was having to take for my co-morbidities. I am very fortunate that I haven't had that many problems. I wish all of you other post ops the very best of luck and health. Valorie

Hi everyone... I am down 40lbs... Been on a plateau the past two weeks, so hopefully will see some more weight loss next week. The amazing thing is I have lost over 6 inches in my rear-end...Now that is a truely amazing thing LOL. I can eat just about anything, the key is slow. If I eat fast it does not like to stay down. I know many of you do not like the protein drinks, but so far they have worked for me and are my main source of protein. No hair loss so far, but have had some irritation of the scalp which the doctor thinks is a combination of cold weather and a lack of oils in my diet. Taking flax seed oil now. I tried the fish oil-- the pills are just too big. I made the mistake of first opening one up to put on my food-- the smell nearly gagged me. They smell like dead fish that has sat out in the sun for 2 months. Ugh! Then I had the bright idea,,, they are in gel form, I'll take one and then have a hot drink to melt the capsule. Wrong idea, I burped fish oil for the next couple of hours.... not a pretty thing for me or those that I was around . Needless to say I am now on an alternative, flax seed oil which can be put on food. Anyway I am still thrilled with the surgery and would do it in a heart beat again. My goal for next month is getting regular exercise. This should help increase the weight loss. Till next month-

Hi everyone! I had my surgery on 10/14/03 with Dr. Duncan in Atlanta. I have lost 65 pounds now and feel great! I have had no troubles with food. There are some foods that I am just not liking so much anymore (fried stuff mostly) but that is not a problem! I don't miss them. I can even eat a little sugar though it makes me sleepy . I haven't had any dumping episodes. I walk every morning and work out at the gym at least 3 times per week. I am blessed!

Hi Everyone, I'm down 58 lbs since surgery for a total of 88 lbs. I'm wearing a size 18 (from 28) and starting to get noticed a lot more by men which I find to be very strange. Tracy

Hi All! I have lost 72 pounds since surgery and feel awsome. I went from a size 28 to a size 18/20. I can wear XL and even some large tops in regular stores! I can't believe I can go into regular stores again and buy anything! The weight loss was really fast at first but is now slowing down to a more managable pace. I can actually keep jeans for a couple weeks before having to buy the next size down. I keep inspired by how awsome everyone on here is doing. Keep it up people! You're doing awsome!

Hi Everybody! I had my surgery in Oct 17, I've lost 57 pounds, but just started exercising. I can tolerate almost anything. Beef can be a little rough on some days. Received 2 protein sample packages for Christmas (trying everything) and a membership to Curves. I feel if I had exercised earlier, maybe my weight loss would have been greater. I'm very happy with my results and lok foward to reaching my goal.

Hi everyone, It's been a wonderful journey as of yet. I have had no major complications, though some nausea from eating too fast (old habits). So far I've lost 110 lbs (50 lbs prior to surgery), I am down 4 sizes in my pants and three sizes in my shirts. Recently I went shopping at a big-and-tall man shop and after trying on one pair of pants, the salesclerk asked if I need anything else. I didn't buy anything; the smallest size in store was TOO BIG! I walked out smiling and the next day I went to Wal-Mart and bought three pants in my new size for the same price it would have cost me for one pair at B&T! I'm loving it! And probably the best part about my decision to do this has been the wonderful accolades I've received from my family, my friends, my co-workers. It's been a long time since someone noticed me for me; I'm not the big guy anymore, I'm the loser. Bill
