January 2004 Roll Call
Hi everyone,
It is that time again.....Roll Call! Post a message and let us know how you are doing, the good, the bad and the ugly!
As for me, I am down 55 pounds, my back is still killing me, I am starting to fit into smaller sizes, and I am still thrilled I had surgery. I am doing ok with eating. The only problem I am having is being weak after exercising and my hands are really shaky. I am going to my PCP to see if I need to adjust my meds.
Life is good,

Me,
I am lost.... I have lost 60 pounds but have no energy. Can not do any protien powders and now my PCP tells me to try Amino Acid Pills..
I can not tolerate anything sweet. I can not tell my weight lost, other see it. I just want the energy. I do not want to eat and I force my self to take bites. I do not know what to eat from the surgeon, PCP and nutritionist they all tell me different...so I am lost... I am doing little exercise because I am so tired....Boy i bet you are glad I answered roll call now....
Peace and Prayers...Ann in NC
Ann, my sister, Anne also, had surgery over a year ago and she had trouble with energy. She didn't really get any until about 5 months out. I have been blessed with not having that problem. I am 3 months out and have a lot of it. I don't like any protien shakes. I just eat protien at every meal. Sometimes I take one bite of something else, but I am mostly eating eggs, yogurt, cheese, and meat. Keep at it, your energy will return. Karen
I had surgery on the 24th of October. I've lost 57 lbs and am feeling great. I am able to tolerate most foods, my back pain is completely gone, I have better balance, I do not have shortness in breath, my seatbelt fits again, and on and on. This surgery has truly saved my life. I try to take my calcium and b12 daily. I dont do protein shakes on a regular basis but I try to supliment with other foods. My hair has not started to fall off yet. I am so much more happier now than I ever was. I am excersizing at least 3x a week. Well that's it for now!

Well, I will be 3 mos out on the 15th.. I have done excellent. I have lost 54 pounds, haven't had to barf a single time and all my pre op stomach issues are sooooo much better. I am off meds for depression and previcid, also meds for IBS.. that is totally gone after having it for my whole life (am 45 yo!) which is a miracle. Am having some hair falling, which I expected.. My hair was really thick so I am not too worried (yet anyway) ... no more back pain, tho my hips do aches after walking any distance. (I also have fibromyalgia which is a big factor in the hip pain)
I feel wonderful, so much better, have so much more energy. I havn't been able to update my profile on here due to my browser needs updating (I think that's the problem) but I still post on QA and the msg board and read daily. Life is good! I feel like a new person and have hope for A LIFE for the first time in many years. I love you all!!! Pam in GA
I have lost 60 since surgery. Meats are not my friend, I am having some problems with food, but trying to manage with cheese and beans. I fractured my knee on 12/30 so I'm not getting any exercise, but luckily the wt is still coming off. I try and do one protein drink a day and just started taking my thyroid pill again' now if I could just get those vitamins in, maybe the doctor wont yell at me when I see her on the 22nd for my 3 mo ck up. Oh, seat belt fastens, can weigh on PCP's scales, going thru clothes like I can't believe--love it!!

My surgery was Oct 7th and I have lost 57 lbs. Only time I really dump is when I overeat. I avoid breads, rice and turkey. My clothes are big ome. I feel great. I am tired a little in the evenings. Tomorrow I have an appt with Shapes Fitness. I want to see what type a programs they offer. I need to started exercising. Good Luck to all my Oct buddies.
Hi Everyone,
Three months out tomorrow, I am down 73lbs. I have had 4 dilations and have another scheduled due to stricture problems
Otherwise I am doing well. I am having upper back pain, but am down from 4 shots and over 100 units of insulin to 2 shots and less than 25 units for my type 2 diabetes. I feel it has been a fair trade. I thank GOD everyday for this life saving surgery. I would do it again in a second. Good Luck all and GOD Bless.

Hi Everyone!
My 3 month anniversary was on October 6th so I am 13 weeks out and have lost 45lbs. I have gone from taking 4 pills a day to only 1 for my type II Diabetes so that is remarkable in itself! I have gone down 2 clothes sizes so if I get a little frustrated with the pounds not coming off, I just recognize that the inches are melting off as well. I went to Curves for the first time today and signed up. With Iowa winters, it is a struggle to get outside to do a few miles walking so this was my next alternative for now. I can tolerate all foods so far. I have more of a problem with smells while a meal is cooking. I get very nauseated when food is cooking on the stove and then can't eat once it is all prepared. Otherwise, no problems & no regrets!!!

Hello all my surgery was Oct 21st and I am down 49.5 lbs. Which is great for me. I am still waiting for the energy to kick in. Seem to have none!!! All I want to do is sleep when I am not working. I do throw up occationally when I have eaten too fast. And when certain foods do not agree with me. But I am hanging in there. Keep up the good work to you all. You all have done great!!!!!
