Hi all! I'm right at 5 weeks out and have lost 36 pounds. I had hit a stand still about 2 weeks out but the last 2 weeks the weight has been coming off again. Hope I didn't jinx it here!!! I have had some difficulties with eating too much and feeling that my esophogus is going to explode but it usually passes within 20 minutes. I've also had some frothing. Good luck to all!! 285/249

Hi. I had my surgery Oct. 28th and I am 5 weeks out now and I have lost 32 lbs. I am feeling pretty good. I have just started to try out solid foods and so far everything is o.k. I do get that too stuffed feeling if I drink too much water too soon after my meal. Janet

Hello all October WLS patients. I am now 7 weeks out (surgery 10/13) and have lost a whopping 39 pounds. I started at 233 and now I am at 193.5. I have had NO problems at all. I have eaten just about everything (in small amounts) but "steak" since about 3 weeks out. I found a fabulous protein drink in a can at GNC and it seems to be working out great. I get in about 60-70 oz. of water per day and try to keep my meals based around protein when possible. I eat with my family what ever is for the meal. I find it hard to know when I have had enough... SO i am just putting what i "KNOW" i should eat on my small plate and when it is gone or i am full i stop... it seems to work for me. I need to start my workouts so i can meet my goal or 130 by 1 year. Best wishes to all for success in the future. "Peaches" Judy

Hi Tanya, I had open rny on Oct 13th and had no problems till 4 weeks out and kept throwing up so the surgeon, Dr. Georgen of Neenah Wisc. went in and widend the outlet from the pouch. I was 100% better the next day. I've lost 45 lbs and have hardly any clothes that fit me. I was a size 26-28 now 18-20's are loose! I love it. I'm looking forwards to Christmas when I get to see some of my kids and grandkids and getting their reactions! You all have a great Holiday Season. Patsy

Hello to everyone. I had a lap RNY on 10/7/03 and have done really well I think. I have lost 50 lbs at this point. I love this tool that is helping me to finally loose weight! I have gone from a size 24 (snug) down to a 20, which is really a bit big. All of my clothes are hanging on me but I don't mind a bit right now. My biggest problem is getting in all of my water and protein. Another problem is mentally getting where I don't want to eat for comfort, etc. I had always eaten any time something bothered me, wish my surgeon could have "fixed my head" also.

I'll be 7 wks post-op on Wed. Dec. 17. So far, down from 402lbs to 347lbs at last weigh-in this past Tuesday. I couldn't be more thrilled!! My clothes are getting baggier, and it's wonderful! I have a pair of size 4X Just My Size denim stretch leggings that I could barely squeeze into around surgery time that are now starting to slide down my hips with every step I take. Woo hoo!! I've gone from not being able to walk from the Super Wal-Mart entrance any farther than the checkout (which, as you know, isn't that far of a walk at all) to being able to walk the entire store! The first day I did that, I went home, called my Mom, and cried tears of joy! I'm also now trying to stick to a walking program, which has been difficult since it's been raining here for the past few days. When I CAN'T get out to walk, though, I try doing housework (something ELSE I couldn't do prior to surgery), like sweeping, scrubbing floors, vacuuming, etc. just to do SOMETHING to move and sweat. I've had a few problems with a seroma at my incision site (surgeon has had to drain it twice now), and some God-awful muscle spasms a few weeks back where my g-tube grazed my rib muscles when the internal sutures dissolved, but all-in-all, I'd consider myself incredibly lucky. And yes, I'd do it again, a thousand times!!!! Love and prayers to all! Amy, Open RNY, 10/22/03
