I had surgery on 10-23-03....I am almost a month out and am down at least 33lbs, and I know over 23inches. I have to measure again. I feel like I am losing slow, I lost 29lbs the first 22days and have only lost another 4lbs since. seems slow to me. I wanted to be down by 100lbs by my 6mth mark and it just doesn;t seem to me that that will happen. I know, patience. Well I have healed really well, in fact I was surprised at how well I have healed. I did have blood clots and developed bilateral pulmonary embolisms and survived. I do have a greenfield filter now though. So I am doing awesome health wise. No more blood pressure meds or antidepressants. Okay I have rambled enough. I'll talk to you all later. Hi Fellow Oct. Posties! I'm 5 1/2 weeks out and doing well. I've yet to dump or vomit, so I guess I'm a lucky one. My eating plan is very conservative though, so I have not tried alot of things yet! I'm down 40 lbs. overall, 28 lbs. since surgery. Weight loss has slowed immensely in the past 3 weeks, which concerns me. It is probably because I've increased exercise and am gaining muscle...or at least thats what I tell myself!! I too hope to hit the century club in 6 months but already see that that is a very ambitious goal! My plan is to be religious about getting my protein, water, vitamins & exercise and just let my body do the rest....whatever schedule it chooses! Good Luck to all of you! Happy Losing! I know what we're all thankful for this Thanksgiving!! Kathy 294/254/150

5 1/2 weeks out, 34 pounds gone - been holding steady for about 2 1/2 weeks and getting really annoyed. I can eat just about anything that holds still, but don't have a big appetite. Sweet is too sweet. Would like to be able to drink water more easily. For some reason, water is the hardest fluid to drink. I've tried ice-cold, cold, room temp and warm. Love my tuna salad and bean soup. Still too tired to do much exercising. I tend to fall asleep after eating. BP meds cut in half and my BP is getting low enough to cut more. No more diabetes, too.

Hi Tanya, Thanks for the post, it is great to hear from all of us post ops in Oct. I am 8 weeks out and down 40lbs since surgery and 30 prior to surgery so a total of 70 lbs. I am so amazed at my progress. I am thrilled to have gone from a size 24-26 to 20-22 pants and 18 dress. I don't remember the last time I saw 18 on my clothes size. I am eating pretty well I just have to remember to chew, chew, chew and chew. I still find it hard not to drink water when I eat, I have always done that so I am hoping my desire to go away. I don't give in yet it drives me bonkers sometimes. I am almost feeling like all of my energy is coming back and maybe even more. I hope in the next week or two I will have loads of energy. Many blessings to you and all our Oct. siblings on the journey. Enjoy ever minute of it , it is a gift from God.

so 5 days later i'm replying. Tomorrow I'll be 5 weeks out and 42 pounds lighter. I'm happy with my weight loss, it's about 25% of my excess weight. I'm feeling pretty good and dump on peanut butter, yogurt and am lactose intolerant. not too bad!

Hello to all you Oct. people! Had my surgery on 10-24 and am down 40+ pounds! Had a little bit of a hard time in my 3rd week, got dehydrated!! UGH! But am making every attempt to keep hydrated! No problems with dumping, but have NO appitite! Get a little frustrated with what to eat, but have my follow up next week, so maybe that will help! Cannot complain though, this was the best decision I ever made! Am ready to keep on losing! Good luck to all of you and keep on losing! Meg F.
