I lost about 23 pounds the first week, and this past week--NOTHING! Anyone else having this problem? It is so frustrating!!!

That is very normal to to have a hault in weight loss after a week or two. Hang in there because the scale will soon start moving again. Your body is in survival mode and is holding on to every little thing right now. This does work! Cheryl H

Yep! I will be 4 weeks out on Friday, and about 1.5 to 2 weeks ago I was at a complete standstill. It was horrible. But, I'm happy to report the scale is moving again! Yeah!

I was in nursing school for a while and we learned that for every pound you lose, your body has to break down 1 mile of blood veins and reroute everything and that is the reason we have plateaus, so give your poor body a chance to catch up! Congratulations on the great weight loss so far!

Folks, a TRUE plateau is more than 2 months without any weight loss. Honest. So, don't even be thinking bout plateaus this early. STAY AWAY from the scales. Bad bad bad. Just do what your doctor says and drink and move! Your body has been thru major surgery and it's only getting used to the sudden drop in food and calories and carbs. Be patient. Remember, a plateau is more than 2 MONTHS without any weight loss. Be sure to take your inches measurements and measure once a month. Kat

I am 2-1/2 weeks post op. The first week I lost 14.5# and the second week only 3.5. According to the bariactric team at University of Chcago this is fine. You haven't said if you were on pureed foods right away or are you still on liquids? I just graduated to soft solids foods...So we'll see what happens over the course of the next month. I don't go back for another post op chec****il 12/01. My digital scale is at my daughter's house and I think I'll just leave it there for now, or I'll make myself crazy by weighing myself daily. If this is what your doing, I think you need to stop that. Just give the scale to another family member for now. Linda from Schererville, In

I'm right there with you. VERY FRUSTRATED! I just finished reading your message and the replies. I'm glad to hear that I'm not alone and that mabye this is normal. I have spent enough time crying today. I had Open RNY on 10-21-03. I lost 17lbs the first week the second I lost 8 lbs. I was dehydrated and feeling very week. I increased my fluids and I do feel better but I'm very depressed because when I got on the scales I have actually gained 3 lbs. I measure my food and only eat 1/3 cup at a serving and I'm following the surgeons diet. Others appear to be having similiar problems so I'm hoping this is normal and I'll start loosing again. I'm just worried scared and depressed.
