I'm soooo nervous. I have pre-op tomorrow (monday, 10/20), as well as my last preop visit with my surgeon before the big day. I cannot believe just how TENSE I've been the last couple of days! Did anyone else experience this just before surgery? It's as though every muscle in my body is contracted and won't completely let go until the surgery is over with. And for the past two days, I've awakened in terrible pain, like I had exercised severely the night before. My shoulders, back, arms, legs, even my FEET all have terrible muscle pain from being so tensed up. I had to take a Valium this morning 'cause I woke up and this time my ab muscles were all contracted. OUCH!! Does anyone have any advice as to how I can best RELAX over the next 60 hours? This really stinks!! I'm starting to think maybe this is the Lord's way of preparing me for the pain - 'cause I feel like if I can handle THIS discomfort, I can handle the post-op pain!! Thanks in advance for anything you might recommend! The tightly-wound Amy, SD: 10/22/03

HI, I know exactly how you feel! My surgery is scheduled for Wednesday too, and I am findng myself nervous and on edge. I keep thinking about the differences in my life after wednesday, and they will be huge! But then i talk to someone who's been there, and it helps alot. I also look at the before/after pics, that definitely reminds me how much healthier and happier i will be after wednesday! Good luck! I know you'll do great! Dawn

Amy, I think it is part of the game. I have not been to bed yet and have to leave about 3am so I can get to the hospital by 7:45 Tues for my pre-ops and another ultrasound of my gall bladder. (I "think" I'm hoping it will show something so she will take it out at the same time as surgery). Then surgery is Wed at 9am. I think Steve is more worried than I am but still nervous. I am just so afraid that I will not be able to eat what I am suppose to after surgery--hate cottage cheese, oatmeal any hot cereal, and milk. And really dont care for eggs all that much...doesn't leave much does it?? We'll have to compare notes when we get home. Best wishes and good luck to you for a safe surgery and a speedy recovery (and me too!!). Huggs to you, Marilyn RnY 10/22
