Made my decision to have WLS.
Well, after months of listening to others talk about the advantages and disadvantages of WLS, I had two acquaintances that recently had surgery and are doing wonderful. Both are 6 and 8 weeks post op. I hear the excitement in their voice and the look of hope on their faces when I see them. They have a new life, and that is what I want. So I have seen my surgeon, had the dietician consult and have the Psych consult scheduled for Oct 22. Then comes the waiting for the insurance approval. But with my BMI being 57.5, my surgeon says this is a "no brainer" for the insurance company to approve, expecially with diabetes, HTN, Sleep apnea and arthritis. So keep me in your prayers as I begin my journey to a new life. God bless all of you who have done this or are getting ready to have the surgery done.
Meleta, Congratulations on your decision. There are so many wonderful, inspiring stories on this site. And so many encouraging people to help you along. You'll be glad you found this site.
My insurance approval came shortly after my Psych consult was filed. Hopefully you won't have to wait too long. For me the longest wait was for the consult. I had trouble finding a Psych who would do it, then had to wait 6 weeks for the appointment. In the end, I went thru my surgeon and did a Psych consult not covered by my insurance. But at least it was done.
Glad to see you have one so soon, less that 2 weeks. That's great.
I'll say a prayer for you. Sandi/KY
Congratulations on your decision. I go in for my first appointment with PCP to discuss the possibility tomorrow. It's a tough decision and this website has been helping me a lot with questions, concerns, and general support.
Good luck, I'll keep my eye out for further information from you!
