Waiting for October 9

I am so anxious but frightened at the same time. Please keep me in your prayers. I have had a long wait for this date, as my paperwork was lost for a period of time. I started with the informational meeting last November. I've had a lot of time to think about it, and I am very sure this is the right step for me. I have the support of my husband and four children. My mother and sister are another story. I am not telling them until the week before my surgery (information only--not open to discussion as I do not want to deal with negative comments). I cross off each day on the calendar counting down to October 9--my re-birth-day. I hope I feel pretty well and am able to enjoy the beautiful weather we usually have in October while I am off work. Karen- I was exactly where you are two months ago.....I only wanted my husband, daughter and people at work to know (they would find out anyway) I did not want to tell my mother nor my sister because they just don't understand. They are of the belief that " you are fat because you eat too much" I didn't want to deal with the naysayers either! But then I decided that if my daughter were to have surgery and not tell me, I would be crushed that she didn't feel she could share that with me. My sister, the same way. I did tell them and eventhough they don't see why I am doing it, they support my decision (they know I am stubborn and would not have listened anyway) They are concerned (I am still reassuring them that I will be fine) but they are there for me. Don't shut them out, Karen, you may regret that. God Bless you and be with you on the 9th. I will be going in on 10-16.

Karen, We will share the same surgery date...kind of a new "birthday" don't you think? Best of luck to you...your in my thoughts and prayers...

hi karen, Im schedualed the day before you oct 8th, i fell very good about the surgery both my sisters have had it done one last year and the other 4 years ago and there both doing fine and have lost hundreds of lbs!! in fact my oldest sister is coming with me to be my surgery buddy! and staying the whole time! im so glad i have the support of my family , i hope to meet you after surgery good luck , sandra ketcherside, palmdale ca. date oct 8th w/ dr.mary murphy san diego
