I am also on this day. I wish you both and anyone else who has this day a speedy and uneventful surgery and recovery. We got this!!!
As it turns out, I also had a hernia repair in addition to the scheduled procedure so that posed an interesting recovery. I am 5 days out now, took pain meds for the first 3 days and haven't taken anything since. They've asked that I walk 5 minutes for every 60 but I am WAY past that now. Yesterday, I pleaded with my wife but I SO wanted to go to the zoo. It was SO beautiful out and couldn't take another day sitting around. I walked for over 2 hours straight and imagine got a few miles in too! Woop Woop! can't be conditioning! My biggest challenge was to remain hydrated and stay in tune with my body. I hate to be direct but their suggestion to watch your urine I think is a great idea. I hate this liquid diet thing and cannot wait to get back to my salads. I crave some crunchy COLD veggies.
You're rocking it too! How are you doing?
Hi there! Your progress in AMAGING!!! 80 lbs in less than a year just shows your dedication. My date was the 9th as well. How's it going so far?
so how are you doing? For me, the first day and a half in the hospital I'm thinking, okay, not so bad. Got home for the first day and a half, uh....this is hard and I don't feel so good. Day 5 was the day from hell. I was thinking what the hell did I just do to myself? I was dying for something to put in my mouth besides water, juice, ice pops and jello. I called the office begging for them to let me halve a little yogurt. By day 7 I thought, I've got this. THank God, I don't know what flipped a switch for me. The pain was easier to manage by then and the nurse at the doctor;s office suggested wonton soup (w/o wontons) and I felt I was having SOME thing. I'm doing okay now. How are you feeling?
Where are you haveing your sugery? we are on same day. I will be at Angeles Hospital TJ Mx.

Wishing you the best. UMMC has a great name. I have learned from people going through the experience is that after the surgery, patients need to understand the limitations of what you can consume. Stomach typically has tendency to expand over time, so make sure you take full advantage of your surgery and comply to a change in life style (promise yourself to not overeat). This is life time opportunity. excited for you. Please post your experience so others can take advantage.
