Topic: Sept 6th...
I will be having my RNY on Sept 6th. I had really wanted the VSG but due to digestive problems my surgeon does not feel it is safe choice.
I have my pre-op at the hospital on Aug 22nd and start my 2 week liquid MediTrim diet on Aug 23rd. I have only told a very few close friends and my daughter what type of surgery I will be having. All others think it is my other digestive problems I'm going in for. That surgery will be done at a later date.
The closer I get to my surgery date the more nervous and scared I am getting. I never thought that I would feel this way but I am. I think I have been reading too much! :)

Hey Kaila,
Thanks, I needed to know that too. Mine is 8/22 and I so wouldn't have remembered mouthwash OR chapstick!

Hey girl!
First of all...congrats!!
Second: There was a post on the RNY forum about what to pack.... and the majority DEFINITELY said to pack chapstick (your lips will be SOOO dry and you can't drink for a while right after surgery)....and they also said to DEFINITELY pack mouthwash. your breath is BANGING gross after surgery, and that's the best thing (or the listerine strips).
They said that the hospital can really supply you with everything else you might need.
Some said they brought their own pillow and their I-pod. Some people who brought books and magazines said they were too tired to read them and just rested instead.
Hope this helps!
Oh, P.S. make SURE you wear comfy loose pants to the hospital and then wear those home too... and make sure you put them on UNDER the belly button
